NOTE: I asked moderator to delete my original post as I accidentally included my case status #. So I reposted my question(s), but took out some that were kindly answered by AnL. (THANK YOU! and WILL DO!). The following is the edited version of my post. Thank you. J/G.

Dear VJ Members -

My fiancé and I received and email from USCIS that states the following:

"...we approved your Form I129F, PETITION FOR FIANCE(E), Receipt Number WAC******. We will mail your approval notice. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address."

:dance:YEEEAAHHHHH!!!!!!

At this stage my fiancé and I should prepare the followings (SOURCE: http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide):

  • A copy of the entire I-129f package.
  • Send an original letter affirming your desire to marry your fiancé and your continued support of the K-1 Visa. Signed and dated.
  • I-134 Affidavit of Support form.
  • Gather duplicate evidence of income and resources as appropriate
  • A copy of the NOA2 that you received in the mail.
  • Proof of your ongoing relationship (Include photos, travel documents, emails, online chat logs (pick several over the prior few months), etc.. from between the time you filed and present (NOA1 until date-now).

QUESTION:

1. Am I missing anything from the list above? Any advice / suggestion?

2. We will be interviewing in Jakarta, Indonesia. Is there anything in particular that we must prepare regarding our location?

I'm reading the Indo forum back posts (from 2006) and the US Embassy Jakarta's website (http://jakarta.usembassy.gov/visa/fiance_k1_visa.html); HOWEVER I will be gladly to read anyone advise / suggestion related to my questions here.

Thank you.

Best,

J/G

Congrats! Sounds like your good to go. I heard sometimes they ask for copy of the us citizens birth certificate.... They don't always ask but it could be good to have just in case.

Now you just wait for NVC to receive your case! Start calling after 2 weeks it's been taking most people 30-35 days to get received but you can start calling after 2 weeks. Unfortunately I have not reached NVC yet and it's almost 7 weeks since I've been approved :( that most likely won't be the case for you ! But prepare for longer than usual wait time !

Once you get your case number you can track it and see when the embassy gets it and go from there with medical and scheduling interview! (Not sure if Indonesia has to send you and email with packet 3 to give you a certain interview date or if you can go ahead and just schedule one on your own on their site)

Good luck!

You really don't need:

1. A copy of the 129f packet.

2. A letter of intent to get married.

3. The NOA2.

You will need the I-134 and income documents. Additional evidence of your relationship is also useful.

Jakarta is a pretty easy and friendly embassy. When they receive your packet/application, they'll send the petitioner (American citizen) an e-mail with a list of everything you need. You'll have to get the medical done in Jakarta too, but they'll send you info on that as well.

Now you just have to wait for the case number from NVC. The minutes you have a case and invoice number, your fiance can begin the process of filling out DS-160. You can track your case number only at ceac website, it will show in transit then when received at the embassy it will show ready.

You will have all the required documents sent to you in packet 3.....

Your fiance will need POLICE CLEARANCE I think as well.

Indonesia is an exception to this policy (due to the history of corruption in the Indonesian police force). If I remember correctly though, the OP lived in Australia at one point, and will indeed need police clearance from that country.

If you haven't done so, click the links (atop any VJ page) for "Embassy Info" and "Reviews: Embassy" to read about Indonesia.

In general, you should become a student of the entire immigration process (consular phase, AOS, ROC, naturalization), starting now.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

J/G: Yes, I have confirmed with other VJ member who applied from Indonesia and US Embassy Jakarta website stated that I am not required to submit a Police clearance Indonesia. I will however begin my police clearance application process from the Australian Federal Police this week. Thank you.
