So, first of all, hello to you all! My name is XXXXXX XXXXXX, and I am an 18 year old woman from Portugal. Fate, whatever you call it, made me fall for this charming man from St Louis, XXXXX. we decided to file for the K1 fiance visa because supposedly it processed faster. He visited me in December of 2015 and proposed, and in January 22nd, I went to the United States and we got this cozy little apartment to stay in. We filed the petition in January 28th, and it got received by the USCIS in California in February 25th. So far, so good. Eventually I had to leave before I overstayed 90 days, so I went back to Portugal on April 13th for 12 days, and came back on April 26th. And we got a happy surprise. Our petition was approved in May 2nd!! I was so happy, our attorney handling our case said our process was going faster than usual. On May 19th, even though we got the letter in June, the NVC sent our case to the US embassy in Paris, giving us the case number. the USCIS

Oops got cut!

On May 19th, even though we got the letter in June, the NVC sent our case to the US embassy in Paris, giving us the case number, the USCIS receipt number and the embassy address. But there had been no notice at all since then. Since it was so long, our attorney advised us to go ahead and submit the DS-160 Non-Immigrant Visa application, which I did, and in the confirmation page, to finish submitting, I had to go to the embassy website and follow instructions, They consider the K1 visa an immigrant one, and just like in the letter from the NVC, it said I had to wait until we received an appointment letter from the embassy until I could create an account, pay the application fee and schedule an interview on this website https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-fr/iv . Now, the approved petition expires in September 9th, and time is running out. Since our attorney didn't receive anything either, and didn't know what to do, he told me to keep him informed and schedule the interview anyway, as soon as the August dates are available, which they will be in 26th of July. I returned to Portugal in 20th of July. I called the call center of the website, explained my situation and they told me to go ahead and do it anyway. So I already scheduled the medical exam in Paris for August 8th, and am planning my trip to Paris. Because we don't have the financial luxury to keep affording flights, and it also hurts to be away from someone you love. But I am afraid of doing the trip and everything, and getting denied just because I stopped waiting for a letter that might not even come until the petition expires.

Any thoughts on what's going on and what I should do?

No they will not deny you because you did not wait for the letter.
The consulate automatically extends the petition when it gets there.

Email the embassy and ask your specific questions if you want their official response.

So am I safe to schedule the interview on that website, go to Paris, do the medical exam and attend the interview? Or will I be delayed? I am asking this because we don't have a lot of money or a lot of time.

You said you called the number on the website, does that mean you talked to the consulate in Paris? They should be able to give you the correct advice. Read up on this website for what is required to bring to the interview and medical in Paris.

Who did you call? The embassy, NVC or USCIS?

Some embassies extend the expiration time without you having to tell them and some needs to be told to extend them. You should call the embassy and ask them to do it.

My issue is, I don't have a lot of money. I need to go to Paris anyway cause the doctor approved by the embassy in Paris is on leave starting August 12th, but there is no appointment letter and I don't know if they're gonna close the door on my face and I'll have to grow money out of land to afford another trip.
