Hey, everyone!!!

My I-485 petition was APPROVED last week and mistakenly sent to my previous address, which was flagged "undeliverable as addressed", and now, a week later, it is in Lees Summit, MISSOURI! I live in CONNECTICUT, and at my uscis case tracker, it says it was delivered to MY ADDRESS. Like, how come?!?!!?!??!

ANother desperate question: Is there any other way to show a potential employer that I am legal to work in the USA other than having the physical green card in hands or using e-verify???? If the employer does accept e-verify, it is enough so they see that I am legal to work here???

I have been trying to use e-verify self check without any luck, I'm afraid that if my employer tries to access it it also not shows any information about me. I am so stressed out about that, these people at USCIS are beyond incompetent!!!

Lees Summit, Missouri is the location of the NBC. It used to be known as the Missouri Service Center. That is why your case# started with MSC. If they mailed you an approval notice that was returned to them, that is why it would be back there. You should make sure your address is correct in the system with the USCIS.

Hmm Kay did answer you but here it is again.

First the NBC is in Lees Summit Missouri. Your card is there because it was undeliverable and needs to go out again.

Second it would say the card was 'delivered' because thats a USPS term meaning its reached its destination. (this is the sender because it was unable to be delivered as addressed)

Third - are you getting a DHS or SSA mismatch or can you just not access the system? A mismatch does not always mean you are not authorized for work. It can be that you changed your name and that takes time to show up.

Fourth- You can get a 551 stamp in your passport as proof of status. Use the search feature to find out more if you are interested in obtaining one. However by the time you go and obtain one you should have your GC. Its not going to take them that long to mail it out again.

Fifth- Im not sure how the people are incompetent. I saw your other thread. You sent in your change of address form. It can take up to 10 days to get entered into the system. You were told by July 20th. Unfortunately your card was mailed out prior to the new address being entered. How does this make them incompetent? Do you know the sheer volume of mail they receive? You are not the only address change. Im sorry the timing was so bad but no one mishandled anything.

What is the point in getting an I-551 stamp on my passport after receiving my GC? Also, is it possible to go on an Infopass appointment and getting some sort of document stating my particular case from USCIS? thank you

What is the point in getting an I-551 stamp on my passport after receiving my GC?

You asked in your initial post if there was an alternate means you can use. The I-551 stamp would act as proof of you being a permanent resident until you have a physical green card in hand.

I know you are upset but people on here are trying to help and are providing you with information and options.

the whole point in my initial post is that I don't have my green card in hands, hence my question. I mean, I am wondering if it's possible to get a I-551 stamp on my passport without receiving my green card yet. Or any kind of formal statement explaining my situation

and I'm truly sorry if anyone got offended, I didn't mean to be rude!!!

You can get a 551 stamp at any time if you are a permanent resident.

So if your GC was approved then you are a perm resident regardless of if you have the card in your hands or not. You do not need proof of your status when you go and ask for the stamp- you just need identity proof, they will check your status and issue you a stamp if you desire one because you do not have the card in hand.

However to get an infopass appt to get the stamp is going to take some time. My point was by the time you get there and get the stamp-- well it wont be much longer till the card arrives at the new address. So Im not sure how much use youre going to get out of the stamp. I dont know if you have a job offer yet or are just looking but most places will give you some time after you apply and are interviewed to present them work doc auths and stuff. You shouldnt necessarily need the card to apply and interview.

Also you should not be so so so concerned about e-verify. The employer will deal with that. If theres a problem they cant resolve feel free to post back and someone will have suggestions depending on what the issue is. But right now there is no issue besides you not being able to self verify which can be because Im assuming you changed your name due to marriage.

One last thing - you were approved in 74 days for your GREENCARD. That is a fantastic timeline for a k1. Some people are still waiting on their EAD. (disclaimer- if you are mistaken and this is your EAD combo card that got sent to the wrong address then you can NOT get a 551 stamp. you will just have to wait for the card to arrive. There is no alternate form of proof in that situation besides the actual card which the employer will need to complete the hiring process)

Thank you for your help!!! (F) I will bring my confirmation of Infopass appointment with USCIS (the website showed available dates for this next week) + my passport + my marriage certificate + SSN card + my change of address letter. I'm even thinking about bringing a copy of the USCIS case status page saying it was "delivered to my address" + the USPS website saying it was delivered to Missouri. If there's any other supporting evidence you think I could use, let me know, please!!

So, this is the actual I-485 petition, I also applied for EAD+AP but the I-485 was approved first and the combo application was "terminated".

you have a simple situation: go to Infopass and get a stamp and you can work and you are legal here... you are so fine. i don't know why you are worrying more then you have to.

drive your car to Infopass/imigration building.. tell them you are waiting on the green card an want your 551 stamp.. they will stamp you asap.

no need to stress out.

once you get your stamp go to the SSN office and from there you can show your work the receipt and you can start monday.

if you have an SSN you can work asap, very simple. No need to stress you are a LPR and can work immediately.

You don't need all that! they have you in the system.. they are going to look t your passport, plug in your name and stamp your passport.. that is all you need is your passport.. don't complicate things.
