Getting Italian vocational diploma verified

Hello!

My fiance and I have recently sent in our k-1 visa packet, and now I am trying to be prepared for everything I may need for my husband-to-be to work in the U.S...

My fiance is from Italy, and as you may or may not know, Italian "high school" is very different from the U.S. I am hoping those from Italy can help me out with the equivalency in the U.S and if his degree can/needs to be verified.

My fiance has what I believe is a vocational high school diploma in the field of hotel and restaurant services. The actual name of the diploma is "Technico dei Servizi Ristorativi" (Restaurant services) from the Istituto Professionale Statale in Bari, Italy.

I've attached a picture of the degree as well. This is indeed a high school diploma right? He has A LOT of experience in working in hotels and restaurants in Italy and France (10 years worth of experience) and upon coming to the U.S. would like to stay in this field in the beginning but then eventually become a flight attendant.

Would it be helpful/necessary to get this diploma verified? Is it possible to get this diploma verified if it is not a higher education degree?

Also, any other advice is extremely welcomed as we are worried about the job search once he gets to the US - especially in the southern California area.

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like Italy has a pretty similar system to Sweden and I have never even had to show my high school diploma here in the states. I have even done some college studying here and I have never had to show proof of it either. I just put it down on my resume.

You might want to get it translated just in case. I don't know about others here but like I said, I've never had to show any proof of finishing High School.

Hi ,

I have read about this for myself and I sent my diploma of master degree at ECE (educational credential evaluation) office for transcription . There are a lot of offices like this, but we picked up with this because both the collage and the university near here knows this office. They evaluate every kind of diploma. And they are really nice in explaining everything on the phone. I'm sending the link below.
