Hi

this may be a long shot im wondering if anyone has done POE from say UK to Canada.

I have the option of flying to Windsor Canada as its so close to Detroit, my fiance can drive across the bridge and collect us at Airport then drive back over the bridge into USA. So my POE will be Windsor Canada.

He used to fly his kids out of there when they had to go visit his ex up Seattle way.

The cost of a single flight is only £250 compared to £800 detroit- crazy

Im a bit concerned going this way but he says its still a POE ok used normally by Canadians entering with K visas etc.

I am now legally allowed to travel with my child so I'm just waiting to hear back from the Embassy re our next steps in getting a new visa, so just trying to preempt things.

many thanks

You should be fine, a POE is a POE and it shouldn't matter where you are coming from.

I personally drove into the US from Canada on my K1 and had no issues, although I am a Canadian citizen.

would you fly to Toronto? There's no major airport in Windsor... Otherwise, you can look up POE reviews from Canadians. Many of us entered by land.

Price is great. Just leave yourself enough time in Toronto to clear customs (you'll need to pick your bags and check then again for your flight to Windsor. Not complicated, but still takes the time to do it.

Your POE for the US will be at the border of Canada and US

you will hand in your visa packet there / not is Canada

you will go thru customs and immigration both in Canada and the US

No different really than going through Dublin. A POE is a POE. I had considered going by land as a flight to Vancouver is cheaper than Seattle.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!

i think i was just concerned that I'm a Uk citizen entering the usa on K visa via canada by car.

My visa will already have been re-issued- though i will have court documents by then also to prove im legally allowed to immigrate with my daughter.

But as everyone says its a POE it shouldn't matter and its busy enough with Canadian entering here so its not as f they don't now the procedure.

just need to wait patiently for the embassy to get back to me re what im supposed to do next to get new visas.
