Taking petitioner to visa interview

My husband filed for me from the United States. During my scheduled interview date he will be with me in my home country. The letter says the petitioner is not required to go. However many accounts here state that it has been a good interview experience for them taking their petitioners with them. What should we do?

What you choose to do is ultimately your choice. Personally, I think if the petition can go, they should. Having the petitioner either on or nearby the premises can make a strong case that much stronger or it could be the difference between a positive result or a negative result.

Having the petitioner with you during your interview will definitely help to get approved. IMO

I went with my now wife during her interview at the embassy and quite frankly it was a good experience. It will not hurt your case if he shows up as well, in fact it could help it even more if he is there. So just go ahead and bring your husband along with you. What country is the interview in?

Just check with the Embassy if you are allowed to. I would've loved to accompany my wife but they wouldn't allow it.

So if they do allow it, then yes, definitely go!

In which country is the interview? Many countries, especially in the West, don't allow the petitioner at the interview while in other countries, such as Ghana, it's pretty much a must for the petitioner to be there for the interview.

Wrong. The petitioner can choose to go or not in Ghana. They don't even allow the petitioner insider the embassy building in Ghana. We just hang around and wait.

I said it because in my case (FB-1) the petitioner must be in the US when you go to interview, the main question that the interviewer asks is who is your petition? and where is she or he now? if you asked he/she is with you and or he/she is not in US and not living there they denied your case...

Yes but mine is not FB-1. It's a standard CR1 visa..

There's a difference between living in the USA but visiting the beneficiary while they go to the interview and not living in the USA. Obviously the purpose of the visa is family reunification so there can be no family reunification in the USA if the petitioner does not live there. But the OP's question was about visiting and being there at the time of the interview.

I think in the Dominican Republic it's compulsory? That's the only place I've heard about where the petitioner has to be there.

I think it's nice to be able to be there for your spouse and give support on the morning of the interview if you can.

I meant in the sense that Ghana is a high fraud country and having the petitioner there, in Ghana, during the interview may help prove to the COs that the marriage is real.

And there are plenty of people on VJ posting about their US spouse being present at the actual interview. There are even posts from people whose visa was denied and then they were granted a second interview with the USC present, which lead to their visa being approved.

FYI, just simply writing wrong is pretty rude. The correct and polite way would be to say "that's incorrect" or "I disagree"...

OP, your embassy is Pakistan according to your timeline so I would advice for your petitioner to be on the premises

for the interview. Let the CO know immediately that he is waiting outside and would like to attend the interview.
At least they know he is there in support and you got another visit in with relationship evidence.
If you have a pretty solid case with no red flags and had plenty of visits then it may not be needed but better be prepared

than regretful if they refuse to issue the visa.
