Medical Exam Schedule

Hey guys :)

So we finally got to start the NVC processing. I was just wondering if its possible to have the medical exam ahead of time even without the interview date yet?

OR we need to wait for the interview date for that? I thought of this because I have an upcoming trip to Manila this July, it would save me a plane fare though.

Thanks!

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Schedule interview confirmation page us one of the requirements. More information is on SLEC website. Also the med exam date determines the visa validity period. Best to do your medical 7 - 10 days prior to your interview.

You need your interview confirmation from NVC, SLEC will want copies of that http://visaconnection-philippines.com/index.php/2-visa-process/4-slec-medical

We went to SLEC to do the medical right away as soon as we got our NVC Welcome Letter (the one with the barcode). When we filled out the SLEC registration online we didn't put an interview date since we didn't have one yet.

When we came to SLEC we had a printout of the SLEC online registration (saying no interview date), a printout of our NVC Welcome Letter (the one with the barcode), and a printout of our NOA-2 (the greenish/greyish one from USCIS). The guard at the front door asked for our interview letter but we said we didn't have one and we just gave him those three printouts (and smiled and used lots of "po"s), and he stamped our hands and let us in anyway.

Once we were inside the waiting area we gave all three papers to the guy that called our number and he said he didn't need the NOA-2. He just needed the NVC case number (from the NVC Welcome Letter) and sent us to the window to start the process. They never need an interview letter once you're actually in the clinic. A couple people asked when our interview date was but let them know it wasn't scheduled yet and they were fine with it.

At the end of the process (the end of the 2nd day), they asked for our DS-260 confirmation/receipt page, which luckily I had already printed and had it with me (since we are in the habit of taking a briefcase with ALL of our papers in it whenever we go to places like this). But that was a surprise. So make sure you submitted your DS-260 already and print out the confirmation/receipt page (the one with the red US Department of State header that says "This confirms the submission of the Immigrant Visa and Alien registration application for: ... and has the two barcodes on the bottom).

Good luck! Pray that you don't have to do the dreaded sputum test! (But at least if you go early then the 2-month sputum waiting period will be at the same time you're waiting for NVC to schedule your interview anyway so you're not wasting any time! :)) I think it's crazy to wait until 7-10 days before your interview to do the medical, for exactly this reason.

Hey everyone! Thank you for your feedback. I'll need to discuss it with my hubby the possibilities of waiting for the appointment date and or not. Appreciate it :)
