k3 visa after marriage in Philippines?

So my boyfriend and I are planning on getting married here in Philippines and then file for a k3 visa. I researched and it says I can immediately fly to US while the visa is being processed. My question is, how long will it take for me to fly to US after filing k3 visa?

Is there anyone here who has/had the same situation as I do? If so, can I know the proper timeline of process from getting married to the point of alien being able to fly to US?

Thank you!

K-3s are essentially obsolete; you would instead file for a CR-1 immigrant visa. Expect it to take around a year for this to happen.

Philippines would likely be less than that. But CR1 would be the route to go. K3 is obsolete, please check the K3 process and procedure forum to find out why.

What do you mean by it being obsolete?

If we apply for CR1, will i still be able to fly and enter US immediately and stay there while the application is being processed?

Nothing about immigration is immediate, I don't know where you read that you'd be allowed in that quick. It's a process, it takes a while, start practicing your patience.

I suggest you read the guides section so you can start finding out how the real process goes and what you'll need to gather and do.

Good luck !

No. Not even with the K3 would you be able to do that.

Is your boyfriend a US citizen or a permanent resident? Different processing times for different situations.

Does he live with you in the Philippines? If so, you may be eligible for consular filing at the Manila embassy.

Whichever route you choose, it's not possible to spend the time waiting for the visa in the USA. Otherwise why would there be a visa process? You can visit if you have a valid B2. He can visit you. But you cannot live there until you have been issued with your visa.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!

I think you have some bad information. I got married to my wife on February 2009 in the Philippines and she got to the US in August 2010. I applied for both the K-3 and CR-1 VISA.. with either Visa she had to stay in the Philippines until all the paper work was finished. The CR-1 Visa was actually faster.. and it is better in my opinion, because as soon as she got here she was able to get a SS Card and a green card to work. A lot of my wife's friends who are from the Philippines cam over faster then a year but can not get a Green card for a whole year, now they are stuck in the house all day while their husbands are at work... The one said she fells like a princess trapped in a castle all day.

The point is you are going to be left in the Philippines after you wedding with the CR-1 VISA for at least 1 year probably closer to 1 1/2 years. However, once you do get here you are free to get a license, get a job, go to school. go to a library by yourself.

WIth the K-1 Visa you get here 3-6 moths faster but then once you get here, you cant do anything for an additional year! you have the same rights as a little kid.

What visa will you use to enter the US if your visa is still being processed?

You can visit on a tourist visa while waiting out the CR1 process but you'll still have to fly back home for the medical and interview.
