I came to the US with my daughter (18 years old) to visit my mom and dad. While on vacation, I met someone, fell in love. He asked me to marry him and I said yes. But until now I'm hesitant, I am aware that I can adjust my status here, but what about my daughter. I'm a single mother and her legal guardians, my parents are all here in the US? Can she also adjust her status and process her papers here with me? What are our options? I don't want to be seperated from my fiancé and at the same time I can't allow my daughter to go back home alone? Can she study here? She's my only child. =)

Multiple tourist visa - vaild.

Entered the country legally.

From Manila.

hi

you will be fine but not your daughter. she has to return because there is no way she can stay here

for your future husband to file for her once you're married, the marriage would have needed to take place before her 18th birthday, so he doesn't qualify to file for her

she is not a child, at 18, the US considers her an adult, capable of getting a job, and living on their own. she has to return to her country before her stay is up

hi

you will be fine

For clarification, the OP will be fine if she gets married. She hasn't decided that she will yet.

Once you are a LPR you can file for her, likely to take some time.

duh!

that's what I meant, she'll be fine if she overstays, marries and adjusts status, her daughter won't as she can't adjust status

there is no way her daughter can stay, she has to take that into account before making a decision

You came to the US and found someone to marry in 3 months? How convenient.

I did wonder the same...

There was a very similar thread recently where the OP came to visit her parents and married the neighbour two months after first setting eyes on him and then adjusted. I did wonder if this romance was the result of realising how long the wait is for the daughter of a USC or LPR is.

Perhaps her daughter can find someone to marry?

Yes I just wanted to clarify that for the OP's benefit (and anyone else in a similar situation reading this) that only as the spouse of a USC will she be able to stay and adjust, not as a girlfriend.

What is the status of your parents in the US?

- Convenient?! So you're insinuating what.

My parents are US citizens if that will satisfy your I presume biased opinion.

If you don't want to be separated from your daughter, can your new boyfriend move to your country? The beauty of international marriages is that there is usually more than one option on where to live.
