Hi y'all.

Finally received my EAD and AP combo card. I have just a few questions...

I noticed that in the letter I received, it says to save the notice to "speed your application for an extension or replacement card". Then also on the back, it has a subsection "Permanent Resident card" Your card has a expiration date. Does my EAD mean I am already a permanent resident??

Am I a conditional resident and do I need to "apply to remove the conditions 90 days before it expires"?

So. lost.

Note: I applied for an AOS together with EAD and AP as I had a K1 visa.

ALSO: I was previously on a J1 in 2013 when my husband and I met, and back then I was issued a social security card. It has my maiden name. I am certain I need to get my name changed but am unsure on the steps I need to take to get this done? I guess go to the SS office?

Is my EAD/AP combo card sufficient enough to go to the Department of Land/Transport to get my drivers license renewed?

Many thanks in advance and apologies for my ignorance. :)

You're still not a permanent resident. You just have the ead and AP for now. You'll become a lpr when your i485 is approved.

To change your name you need to go to a Ssn office with a ss5 filled, passport, birth certificate, marriage certificate, ead.

The requirements to get a driving license depends on your state, check the local dmv website for better info.

On your ead/gc do u have ur name hanged to married name? If not Ssn won't change the name even u have marriage cert. If it has ur new married name u can go and change it no problem.

Most driver license require ead/gc so u can go get ur license renew now but with an expire date of the ead(one year) when u get the green card it should be two year from date issue and they will renew it with that green card expire date
