Hello. Long time reader, first time poster.

I got my letter of approval today for my fiancé's I-129f petition! We're very happy. I've looked at other people's noa2 letters, and they say pretty much exactly what ours says...you've been approved, we've sent the original visa petition to NVC, please wait 30 days before contacting NVC, etc. However, at the bottom of the letter it says:

"NOTICE: Although this application/petition has been approved, USCIS and US Department of Homeland Security reserve the right to verify the information submitted in this application, petition and or supporting documents to ensure conformity with applicable laws, rule, regulations, and other authorities. Methods used for verifying information may include, but are no limited to, the review of public information and records, contact by correspondence, the internet, or telephone, and site inspections of businesses and residences. Information obtained during the course of verification will be used to determine whether revocation, recession, and/or removal proceedings are appropriate. Applications, petitioners, and representatives of record will be provided an opportunity to address derogatory information before any formal proceeding is initiated."

I haven't seen this notice on other people's noa2, so it worries me a little. Does this mean we're still being investigated or that they think we lied on our application? My fiancé is from Russia, so I thought maybe the tension between our two countries makes them have extra scrutiny here.

I doubt it, sounds more like they just updated the form. Up until everything is done, USCIS can always do a follow-up check.

I had the same too and mine was approved in Aug 2015. It's a standard statement. No need to worry. All it's saying is just because your petition is approved, the visa is not guaranteed.

My I-130 approval notice (dated 9/2015) had the same text. Our attorney never commented on it and our application process was smooth and completely uncomplicated, so I assumed that paragraph was nothing more than standard lawyer-ese.

Eighteen years in the US and I still don't understand Velveeta, TV ads for prescription drugs, only getting 2 weeks paid vacation, or why anyone believes anything they see on Fox "News".
