Hello everyone!

Officially joined the blog. My Swedish husband and I sent our I-130 application from Sweden on May 4th to the Chicago lockbox. We received an e-notification on May 18th that it was received and sent to the Nebraska Service Center for processing. Our check was also cashed on May 18th. We are waiting to receive the Receipt Notice (I-797) in the mail so we can then go ahead and file the K3 visa form. We are hoping to reduce wait time (like everyone else), so we figured filing the K3 couldn't hurt as we wait for the I-130 approval.

Has anyone heard that it may be faster processing times if you reside and file from abroad? We both are currently living in Sweden, but I will be moving back in July because I took a job in Miami beginning in August. We are hoping that our wait time will be minimal, but when I checked the Nebraska Service Center's processing time schedule, they are only now processing I-130's from November 2015. Any additional information anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Wishing everyone speedy processing times!!

Michele

USCIS

ATTN: I-130
PO Box 21700
Phoenix, AZ 85036

by ordinary mail on May 9th; did not send G-1145. I have not heard back from USCIS; also, check sent by me has not been cashed. Should I wait before calling them up to inquire?

o gosh ive heared that filing for the k visa sets u back, you move tothe back of the line or something,it used to work, but is obsolete now. check the threads about filing both visa types

It does not set you back. If it doesn't get processed before the I-130, it is automatically abandoned though.

Zach, that's terrible! I can't believe USCIS gave you this information and it didn't work out!! Thank goodness you've figured out another alternative! My husband went back to America on the 17th so we knew he would send it from there as we didn't know how to pay otherwise! I'm sorry you've lost a month :( Here's hoping for a speedy I-130 processing for you! Keep in contact! Hopefully this time it'll be accepted with no worries!

We have re-mailed our application this morning. This time we are sending it to my wifes uncle in California first and he is going to slip a check in for us and then overnight it to Chicago. It should arrive at his address in California by Wednesday (at a cost to us of $42 dollars) and then he will overnight it (another $23) so hopefully USCIS will receive it on Thursday and then hopefully give us a priority date of this day.

Fingers crossed.

Hello everyone! :) I also filed for my wife's I-130 past week. Mailed the packet on May 17th , & Phoenix Lockbox received it on May 19th, although I didn't receive the e-mail till today that they've received it & it's been sent to Nebraska Service Center. Let's all help each other out out through this long & tedious process :clock:

Just started myself actually. Mailed the I-130 over the weekend! We're both living abroad in Canada, so I'm hoping for the slightly expedited processing. My work permit in Canada ends August 31, so hopefully we can minimize the time apart as possible!

Hi AstroCanada... Did you mail your's to US? Is Direct Consular Filing not available in Canada?

I will be filing my I -130 tomorrow. Hope for the best. best of luck all of you :)

Good luck you as well! :)

Hi harpmi02..... If you're already in Sweden, why don't you do Direct Consular Filing. It will be much quicker to process it all. As for K3, as far as I know, it's pretty much the same processing time as IR-1/CR-1, and like other members said on this forum, it's pretty much obsolete now.

2016/05/20: NOA-1 - Petition accepted and sent to Nebraska Service Center... So begins the waiting game :clock:

2016/11/02: NOA-2 - Petition Approved (Had to call to find out, no e-mail or text) :dancing:

2016/11/15: NVC Received

2016/12/08: Sent AOS & IV Packages

2017/03/10: Case Completed

2017/04/24: Interview Scheduled

Just got NOA1 via e-mail. Sent to Nebraska. Seems to be a popular destination for recent filers. I'm hoping they still follow the California process of giving those filing from abroad a little bit of an expedite.

Hi AstroCanada... Did you mail your's to US? Is Direct Consular Filing not available in Canada?

DCF is not available in Canada. The consulate here doesn't even do K-3 visas either, so they're not interested in speeding the process along.

Good old Dr. Benjamin Franklin created USPS regular mail still works; check sent by me with I-130 application was cashed. Having said that I would highly recommend not using regular mail unless you want to test how patient person you are. Also, for the love of God send G-1145 form along with your application if you like the hair on your scalp.
