I'm planning on scheduling my medical here in Mexico City instead of Juarez, and there's a possibility that I won't have the invitation letter from the consulate by that point. I know that a lot people just go to the consulate to get the invitation printed before their medical (in Juarez), but I'm not sure what I should do in this case. Does anyone have any experience with this?

I don't personally have experience with this situation, but I know a couple that was in your same situation 2 weeks ago. They decided they didn't want to delay their process much longer so the beneficiary traveled from Mexico City DF to Juarez just to get a copy of the invitation letter so they could do their medical back in Mexico City. I believe it's a requirement to do your medical in Mex City if you live there.

P.S. They had tried asking for an email copy of it but weren't successful.

Thank you for the information Maria! I just read the updated info about the medical, which does indeed state that I *must* get it here. Which seems pretty ridiculous considering the percentage of people who never get their invitation letter. So I guess my alternative is to wait for my fiancée to get a copy in the US or hope I get my copy? No way can I travel twice.

Yeah, I know a lot of people don't get that famous letter because of the mail system in Mexico.

Can't hurt to try calling and see if it's possible to get it emailed to you... maybe a different rep will do it. Try it, it's worth a shot :)

Update: They gave us the date when the letter was mailed and said that if I haven't received it after 10 business days (from that date) they can mail another copy and "look into possibly emailing it" to one us. And they said that getting it printed at the embassy in Mexico City was not possible.

So now we have to wait a week and hope for the best. Hopefully not too many interview dates will fill up and we'll still be able to get an early-June appointment.

Just go ahead and make the appointment over the phone, calculating the time when you actually get the appointment.

Point to consider: The visa will have the validity six months out of the medical date. That is why they ask you when is your interview when you call to make the appointment... and they frown upon setting up appointments farther than a week in advance.

You might or might not care about that.

I highly recommend the clinic in Mex City. Saves you a lot of money in hotel and time in Juarez.
