Travel with AP approved but no actual papers

Has anyone actually traveled with an approved I-131 Advanced Parole but without the physical papers in hand?

I have flights booked to leave in a few days and my papers haven't arrived yet. I was unaware that there is now a combo card with Employment Authorization and Advanced Parole combined. My EAD was sent to my old address before I called to change it. I originally thought my I-131 would be sent to my new address but since it is now in a combo card with my EAD they were both sent to the wrong address. Even though our mail is being forwarded to our new address USCIS will not allow its mail to be forwarded so it has been sent back to USCIS. I have sent in a request to resend the papers to our new address but I have no confirmation of when they will arrive.

My question: Can I still leave the country (going to Canada) without the actual papers in hand if I will have the papers in hand when I re-enter the USA? My husband is joining me later and can bring them when they arrive. I am on a K-1 Fiance visa and we have no children. My I-485 is still pending.

Thanks for your help!

I'm not 100% certain, but I believe AP is only needed when trying to return to the US, so if you have the papers before you return, I presume you would be ok.

Technically, you only need the AP card for re-entry to the US. So if your husband is going to hand deliver it, then you could do as you state.....but you would not be allowed reentry without it. If it gets lost again, then you have to stay away until it is obtained. Kind of risky, most folks wait for the card .
