I say I wish manila because at least she would be home near family , she only stayed because we thought Taiwan was easier or faster than going through manila processing times.

Oh wow I understood. Why not she be sent to Manila for an interview if they consider? Just wondering...

She is a resident of Taiwan so she has the ability to get interviewed there. If she choose to she could have moved the interview to Manila at NVC but that adds a couple extra weeks to the process.

Really? I never knew that? 5-6 couples eh? We're Junies too and still waiting but we never ever thought of breaking up.

Either did we.  I guess it is safe to assume that the other relationships had other challenges too.  We never considered breaking up and now that the K-1 is dead and we are going in the CR-1 direction, we are only getting stronger.  There is a lot of extra stress because we have to arrange a marriage that has to take place before Rose's son turns 18 in July.  I am flying to Manila on May 21 to do the pre-marriage seminar (required even for civil weddings) and to get my "Affidavit in Lieu of the Certificate of Legal Capacity to Contract Marriage"... Then I get to go back sometime after the 10 day "cooling off" period to actually marry Rose.

ABSOLUTELY!  I get two trips to hold her and touch her.  I get two trips to hug my family.  I get to wake up to white coffee and pandesal.  All in all, it is a little stressful because of the timing but I have no regrets.  We are all very happy.

just curious to know how many here that were issued 221g and the ceac still shows "ready" or "administrative processing" , mine still shows ready. updated may 1 2018 is the last update

Our CEAC shows updated 5/3 but still in AP....... oh the wait and anxiety 😫

10 day "cooling off"  - is that a requirement in the Philippines?

That’s really interesting. They should have a waiver to cut the time to like three days 🤔. Then again it’s probably for the best since divorce is nearly impossible there.

I think it just gives the poor registrar a chance to actually do the paperwork.  You have probably noticed that they kind of do things on their own time.

Yeah it seems that’s how it goes, however If that’s truly the case it should be more like Vietnam and it’s all about the coffee money and that’s how you get things moving. In the Philippines it seems more case by case and depending who it is you’re dealing with...... I guess patience and strengthened resolve is what’s needed. But if I could do it over again I would do a CR-1 since the wait time is pretty much the same nowadays
