SLEC Requirement: Interview Confirmation

I've read differing information about this and wanted to confirm. Does SLEC actually require you to have a confirmed interview date, or are the NVC and Embassy letters enough? I've already paid the visa fee over a month ago, but haven't been able to schedule an interview because the March dates STILL aren't open. I was hoping to schedule my interview at least a month after getting the medical exam done, in case they ask me to come back for a psych eval due to clinical depression.

Planning on going in for my medical exam this Monday, but should I just wait until I've scheduled my interview?

*** Country-specific thread is moved from K-1 Case Progress subforum to the Philippines regional forum. ***

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Thanks! A little bit more confused now though as I just called SLEC and the woman assured me I just needed my case number.

The guard will not you in, I hope that lady you spoke with has higher authority and you can call her to vouch for you. Up to you if you will risk being turned away. So simple to book to the interview now rather than booked it on one of the net cafes outside St Lukes.

Your choice - let us know how it goes.

The USC fiance was so pissed off when her fiancee was turned away, thus he need to booked the interview and send her the confirmation letter.

Again- your choice. you don't don't have to take my words for it. Yet you asked here.

Yes, I'm considering all the information, which is why I posted this and called SLEC as well.

I did book the last February slot as a precaution. Thank you for all the input.

Always go with what the embassy states, St. Luke's doesn't make the rules... they follow them Sometimes they can't read or comprehend but they don't make the rules

What should I bring to my medical examination?

  • DS-260 Confirmation Form (strongly recommended). (DS-160 for K-1)
  • Appointment letter sent by the National Visa Center or an e-mail confirmation from the Visa Information and Appointment Service.
  • Appropriate medical examination fee.
  • Passport (valid for at least 6 months)
  • Three color pictures (2 inches x 2 inches) with a white background(two are for the visa and one is for the medical report).

With this said some have brought copies of the CEAC status page showing their MNL# and current status, SLEC has accepted that as well.

The guard at SLEC must have been new and untrained. Tyler's fiancée had her NVC letter with her. That alone should have been adequate to admit her into SLEC for her medical. It has worked for countless people. Tyler's fiancée should have requested to speak to a supervisor.

Totally agree

I would almost consider carrying this page, just to educate the guards when they pull that krap

I was hoping that a printout of a screenshot of my "Case Ready" page, the NVC confirmation email, and embassy letter of eligibility (which surprisingly turned up a few days ago) would be enough. However from feedbacks stating that it's a case to case basis (aka it depends on the guard on duty), I just ended up booking an interview date anyway.

Ah, yes. This was a good idea. I was prepared to go on the defense if I was denied entry, but thought I'd save myself from more unnecessary stress. I've been much too stressed and much too anxious about this whole process.

Truly do understand about how this process piles it on! ;)

Hi everyone, will be reviving this thread because I am planning on doing my medical without an appointment confirmation. I know everyone suggests just having an appointment scheduled anyway, and this is what I had planned on doing originally, but I have come into a bit of a snag as I wrongly scheduled my appointment too early and had to reschedule on the day of my supposed interview - long story, but you can read more of it here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/616579-rescheduling-appointment-on-the-day-of-interview/.

Now, I will need to wait 24 hours after my scheduled interview appointment before I can reschedule (I plan on calling), and I'm not sure if everything will be okay by the time I do (may have to wait a bit more for me to actually have my printed appointment confirmation letter in hand?). I don't want to be wasting more time, and would rather have my medical done ASAP so I can have my interview 2 weeks after. Would I be okay with just the NVC letter (I have a letter sent by the NVC to my fiance with a bar code, an email from NVC, and the CEAC Ready status screen shot)? I just wanted to see if anyone actually has gone without an Appointment Confirmation and successfully did their medical.

P.S. Hi Bea, it's Trisha :) Hahaha.

Yes you can complete the medical with the NVC letter OR the interview confirmation. To save time the first morning, complete the online pre-registration

http://visaconnection-philippines.com/index.php/2-visa-process/4-slec-medical

Have you completed your DS-160? SLEC will ask for a copy of the confirmation page the 2nd day of the medical.

( it is still simpler to start a new topic, blue button upper right of page)

Visa chase and citizenship.. DONE!
