London DCF Interview - Presence of Petitioning spouse

Hi everyone,

I have my CR1 visa interview at the London US embassy on the 19th of this month (February). I will be flying in from Glasgow with my wife (petitioner) and infant child (both us citizens).

My question is - should my wife and daughter come along with me for the interview to the embassy - not sure if they would let them in.

Would it benefit in anyway towards my interview if they came along ?

Thanks in advance,

Alan

For London, it is no benefit. They can come in if you ask for prior approval via the contact form. Their name has to be on the list for the day. The interview is quite short and simple standing at a counter like at a bank or post office window with the person behind glass. The website has just changed and my bookmarks are all off. I will find the online contact form and edit this post or add a new post when I find it. You will get an email reply from them but not necessarily same day. You can show it outside on the day that they have permission. Bring US passport as ID.

Thanks Nick. So you are saying that bringing along my wife for the interview will not add any extra benefit ?

Would it rather be detrimental to my cause - being that they might cross question her if she is with me for the interview ?

I do not have expect them to do so in our case but you never know what the mood of the Officer allocated will be on the day

That's exactly what I said, "For London, it is no benefit."

No detriment. London does not want to question your wife. They do not want to grill you on your relationship. They don't want to see photo albums. They want to see your paperwork and ask a few simple questions like "What is your wife's name? How long have you been married? Why did you decide to move? How do you like Iowa? Have you ever been there?" You may get totally different questions, but the point is you will find them similar to an easy chat like one you would strike up with somebody in a pub who heard you were moving to America.

Nobody in London is going to be in a bad mood. They are nice and want you to succeed.

If you want to take the wife and baby and enjoy a day or two in London to see tourist things, take in a museum, shop, ride the London Eye, or see a play in the west end--then great. If you would rather save the money, then leave them at home.

That certainly seems to be the case. You would think with the weather we have in London they would be more miserable!

Well there is one lady who is a document checker (first time called up) who we used to joke about as the grumpy Adian lady. She still pops up in comments, so I guess she is still there. She's very soft spoken and hard to hear through the thick glass. She scowls a bit when you don't quite know what she's saying so start fumbling your papers.
