Hello everyone,

We just received our NVC letter in the mail today, already got the Case number 2 weeks ago and started the DS-160 process. However, on this letter, both mine and my fiance's names are wrong.

Some back story, my fiance has legally changed his name last year, but of course under the petition application, we had to put his previous name on the application under other names.

Well fast forward to now, we get the NVC letter and under petitioner, my name is spelled with two "L"s, and under beneficiary, his name is his old name.

I'm panicking and dumbfounded. How have we gone through this whole process with the right names, both our NOA 1 and NOA 2 had the correct names and spellings and when I called the NVC, they accepted his new legal name, never asked for his old name.

What do I do? I'm afraid they are going to issue the visa under the wrong names. Do I call the NVC to fix it? The Consulate?

Any help much appreciated.

Suggest that you follow-up with the interviewing embassy/consulate. Since your case file is likely no longer at the NVC, but likely in transit to, or has arrived at the next destination, the interviewing embassy/consulate.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

Yes, it arrived at the embassy on Tuesday, February 2. I just wasn't sure since the letter was created by the NVC if I should take it up with them first or not. I will be calling the embassy today. Thank you for your reply.

Good plan. The Bureau of Consular Affairs, of the Department of State's (DOS) National Visa Center (NVC) as stated by you, doesn't have your case file any longer. The majority of approved K1 petitions generally have a quick transit time through the NVC, and are then dispatched to the respective embassy/consulate for additional processing. Therefore, it would do little good to contact the NVC, the interviewing consulate in Juarez is likely in possession of your case file.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

Could you do something about it?
