Good day VJers! Happy New Year!

I know that this question has been raised before, but I just wanna start a new and fresh topic.

We got our NOA2 on September 30, 2015 though we had to request our case to be transferred from UAE to Manila where I reside. in spite of the request and the follow ups that we have been doing, the file has not reached Manila yet since November 17, 2015 where the CEAC site shows that the transfer is in progress. I am getting more and more worried about this. It has been almost 4 months and I don't have an appointment for interview yet. NOA2 expires on January 29, 2016...

I would appreciate any advise on what should be done about the expiration date of our NOA2.

Thank you so much in advance!!

The expiration date on the NOA2 is somewhat meaningless within the K-1 process. Once NVC and/or the Embassy has the case, that date is automatically extended by them with no input required on your part.

Did the Embassy in UAE actually receive the report or was the transfer request made while it was at NVC. I'd contact either of those entities and inquire as well as the Manila Embassy.

Thank you so much for the response. I just want some peace of mind when it comes to this. We have requested for the file to be transferred as soon as we got the case number on the NVC stage. We tried to talk it out to nvc to just transfer the case from there to the new embassy (Manila) but they said no and still sent the case to Abu Dhabi.. I also contacted Manila embassy for them to request the file from Abu Dhabi cause that's the process as shown as well on Abu Dhabi's website... Didn't receive any acknowledgements from Manila Embassy though but we have been checking ceac site and it showed/shows transfer in progress since November 17.. No update since then.. Just so worried cause I don't know where our file is at the moment cause all their answers are just 'its in transit'... :(

It usually takes a while for a case to be transferred. The petition will be valid for one year. No worries.

Thanks for this though does it mean we really don't have to do anything? I'm just worried that what if our file arrives the embassy right after the expiration date. Would they immediately treat it as expired or just extend it automatically. Though I will still call embassy right after this.

If that's the case, I hope its true and that we don't have to worry about anything. Thank you! :)

Okay, my answers are based on what I have read, though I could be wrong

This is what I would do- call up NVC (keep holding on even if the wait time is over an hour) and ask to speak to a tier 2 officer (like

Get the Case#

National Visa Center (NVC)

Phone: (603) 334-0700
7:00 a.m. - 12:00 a.m. EST
Monday through Friday
(excluding holidays)

Is it possible that the status is not reflecting online since there have been people who have reported glitches on the website?

While you call, also send out an email to NVC

http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/contact.html

Email: Public Inquiry Form (pls follow the link above)

I have also read that you can ask for just a one time 4 month extension.

Okay the fact that you are checking CEAC means you have a Case #- Call the consulate directly or write to the consulate letting them know.

Well, thanks for everybody's response. I just talked to Yvie from the embassy saying that we don't have to worry about anything cause they will automatically revalidate it since the K1 is still in process. That even though our case arrives after the expiration date, it'll still be extended.

Did you start the request through USEM? Normally it only takes about 60 days max for the case file to get transferred.

While waiting pop over to the Philippines forum get up to speed with the process in Manila. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/129-philippines/

For details on the K-1 process follow the flashing arrow in my signature.

Nope, we started the request at NVC stage.. Shall we notify or ask USCIS about this as well?

Contact USEM and request your case file be transferred. NVC won't do diddly to get your file transferred. USCIS has nothing to do with this part of the process.

Hi there, we already did inform USEM about requesting for a transfer and we have been waiting for them to receive the file from Abu dhabi since October. Hoping to receive it the soonest.

Very good. As long as the transfer was requested at USEM all is good. Now the waiting... I would keep contacting USEM just he same.
