Happy new year members on this forum,

Upon checking my wife’s case status online, the following statement came up:

Case Was Sent To The Department of State

On November 13, 2015, we sent your case, Receipt Number LIN0000000000, to the Department of State for visa processing. Please visit our website for general information on Consular Processing. If you move, go to

www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

In my understanding, the petition has been approved, and it was directed to the NVC for visa processing.

My questions are:

1) Does it mean her green card has been approved, and just waiting for an interview at her home consulate in order to be granted enter in the US?

2) In case answer to question # 1 is positive, is there a chance of the NVC overrules the USCIS’ decision, and declines the petition?

3) The petition started in April 2015, can anyone, from experience, provide a ballpark of the timeframe for the whole process?

Best, Leo

You aren't at a green card yet. Your petition just got approved. Now it moves to NVC. It's been way over a month you need to call or check your mail you should have got a welcome letter from them giving you case# and IIN to proceed.

Here read the NVC Process Wiki and come back with any other questions you have. You need to understand the process and start getting your documents together.

http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process

And no NVC has no authority to deny or approve anything they are a document intake facility. Getting all your documents together for embassy and an interview.

You still have about another 2 to 3 months of processes before interview is assigned.

You really need to call NVC monday or check your email box see if you got email from their and for sure check your mailbox to see if welcome letter came.

Hello dwheels76,

Thank you for your fast reply. I already received a case #, BGTxxxxxxxxxx.

Since then, I have:

1) Immigrant Visa Application Processing Fee and Affidavit of Support Fees paid;

2) Form DS-260 processed online;

Would that still be 2-3 months?

Best and thank you again
