Forget Kings Island until after Memorial Day.

Columbus has 2 groups. One is more social, the other more political.

Also 1 Phil specific grocery and half a dozen or so Asia Markets, one just north of the OSU complex is substantial and caters to the Chinese student population and Japanese expats living around Marysville.

We're in Columbus also so PM me for more specific info.

Congratulations. Ohio does have some nice attractions during the 6 months of good weather.

I live in london, ohio and my filipina wife should be here sometime in feb or march 2016.

I think my wife and your fiancée have already corresponded.

Great month to deplane at CMH. She'll have a rude awakening to WINTER in Ohio, haha.

  • 1 month later...

Best place to start is at the various Asian Markets. They'll be able to advise of various social groups in the city. Or wait long enough and a Pinay will show up.

My wife has met several friends at the local Filipino market while shopping.

Ya there are a lot of "those"... and for sure they are best to be avoided. My wife wants nothing to do with that type either.

Your right... and having a party every weekend and cook food to share on that party aint fun too coz i do have a husband n house who needs my attention..

Hello. It's good to see others in the area. I was wondering about Jungle Jim's for shopping? Please share. We are planning to check it out, about a 45 minute drive for us. We should all plan to meet up and connect. Please send us a message if you're interested.

We'll get to Jungle Jim's in Fairfield every couple of months or so. There is one aisle dedicated to Philippines, but it's mostly snacks, canned goods, etc. Need to wander about more of the store to find other desirables. Prices are better here than the other stores we visit. Most often we'll grab Knoor sauce and UFC ketchup, the cocunut gel cubes (red and green seem to be the hardest to find), maybe some Century tuna, Puto mix, patis and vinegar (there's a special brand the asawa prefers), the PureFoods hot dogs and tocino, lumpia wrappers and bulk rice. The produce section usually has good variety - bitter melon, squash, plantains. Fresh seafood can be interesting here, too.

We find most of the basics nearby in Dayton, both Far East Center and International Foods near Wright Patt AFB. There is a Fil-Am store in Greenville - KT Plum. It's a small store with dry and frozen items, plus home decor, and personal hygiene items. They buzz up to Chicago every 2 weeks for restocking, so the Friday after is best for produce and fish. They have a Facebook page. On most Saturdays there's an informal "buffet" available for a small $$.

Our UMAC BB guy has a small place in St Mary's, just west of Wapakoneta on 33 highway. I guess it's open by calling - not been there personally.

Let us know one day if you venture out our way, maybe toward warmer weather...

Soon to be celebrating our 10th anniversary in April.

You have UMAC there!! We had UMAC in AZ but no so lucky here in TN. Not sure who is around for BB shipments yet.

My buddy drives down from Canada to shop at Jungle Jim's.
