Hello members,

Me the USC male (Petitioner) and my female Filipino Fiancee did have a wedding engagement celebration with 30 of her family members and friends as our guests in Pagadian City, Philippines. We have all documentation of receipts for everything and time stamped photos, Guest list with phone numbers etc. I have known my fiancee for 13 months now, and it will be about 16 months by time of interview. The first trip I made was 7 months after we met online in May 2015. My second trip was in September 2015 in which we had our engagement celebration. My third trip is now scheduled for January 7-24, 2015. My 4th trip will be set to support her at the interview.

We have not made any wedding arrangements in the U.S., because we don't know the time and date the K-1 Visa interview will take place. Do they expect K-1 Filers to focus on preparation of documents for interview and be making marriage arrangements at the same time? Our plans are to just get married at the courthouse when she arrives in U.S. then and go on a honeymoon.

First Question; is to couples who are being approved at interview, are you showing evidence of a planned wedding ceremony?

Second Question; has an couples been denied for not having proof of planned wedding Ceremony?

Thank you.

You will need a letter from yourself and another letter from your fiancee stating you are legally able to marry and you intend to do so within 90 days of your fiancee arriving in the US on her K-1 visa. There is a link in Greenbaum's comments that will provide a sample letter for that purpose.

K-1 Application sent 2-16-16

Received at Dallas lockbox 2-18-16

NOA1, sent to California 2-23-16

NOA2 4-21-16

NVC shipped to Manila 5-12-16

Consulate received 5-16-16

US Embassy Interview -- APPROVED!!! 8-24-16 :dancing: :joy: :dancing:

Our Letters of intent to marry were already submitted with the I-129F petition when filed at USCIS. The following are the questions I would like to get answers too.

First Question; Are couples who are being approved at interview showing evidence of a planned wedding ceremony?

Second Question; Have any K-1 Filers been denied for not having proof of planned wedding Ceremony?

Thank you.

They always tell you not to make any fixed plans until you have your visa in hand.

As long as you state you intend to get married within 90 days of fiance arriving, you're good to go.

My fiance and I are getting married at the local courthouse, and we won't be able to book in a date until I know I have my visa.

Question one: I have not shown any signs of planned wedding. I showed a promise ring/engagement ring. Showed pictures with family and friends having a casual dine outside. Don't give out info that will make the CO think you've had a wedding ceremony that deems you married which disqualifies you if this is a fiance/K1 visa. The immigration officer in the US sometimes asks when the wedding date is. The embassy usually asks for proof of ongoing relationship and proof of seeing each other. The letter of intent to marry usually suffices for the proof of getting married.

Question two: embassy asked for proof of ongoing relationship and letter of intent to marry once in the US. You don't have to show receipts of cakes, venues, or such to show you are getting married. If you have it then fine, if not that's also ok.

Nope didn't show evidence of wedding plans. The CO does ask sometimes what are your plans, but they don't want to see any documentation. What they look for is evidence of a genuine ongoing relationship. No one gets denied for not having wedding plans. Relax.

One thing for sure, do not give them cause to think you got married in the Philippines THAT would be reason for denial. (just call it an engagement party - leave out the word wedding ;) )
