I'm all floaty and whatnot, got my interview date today: December 18.

There are a couple-few of us with December dates, figure we can have a thread in here :)

I anticipate flying in Thursday the 17th from Vancouver, and returning the Friday so there's only one night of hotel expense.

My husband is at the soccer game so I can't book my flight as I'm not sure if he wants to spend the money to come with me or not

Hi congrats .. Did they tell you where you had to get your medical done ?? Or at least give you a list of where to go .. I'm in Saskatchewan and I am thinking there is only BC Ont or Quebec that we can go to ..

Hi :) there are only 5 panel physicians/clinics in the whole country: Dr Cheema in Surrey, Dr Mascarenhas in Toronto, Dr Lee in Scarborough and Dr Zatzman in Vaughan, as well as the Medisys clinic in Montreal. (this sounds ridiculous until you remember that there is only one office for IR-1/CR-1 interviews in the whole country, and then it seems quite generous)

They do give you a list in the Montreal PDF you're meant to download from the NVC website.

Lots of info in the Montreal page here as well http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Canada&cty=Montreal

Depending on when your interview is/how much time ahead you have, you'll have to work out where is best to go. Surrey (is a suburb of Vancouver btw, don't stay downtown and expect to easily get there as a tourist) takes one business day to get you your results (or they will courier to you for a fee); I think some of the Ontario ones might be same day? and Medisys takes usually three days to get your results back if I remember right (although there's a recent person whose results got held up for like weeks). If you search in this forum for medical results you should be able to work it out. Some people take a little holiday in Montreal, or you could spend a couple days in Toronto or something en route to Montreal.

Timing of my interview means I will need to take three days off work (1 for medical, 2 for Mtl trip) which pretty much sucks. I hope you're able to wrangle something easily :)

I have a question about ais.usvisa-info.com

after you register there, you select a document collection location. So, I selected QC and branch in Lachine.

It also asks to enter the name & address as it appears on the driver license .

On the page it says "You can collect your passport after visa processing from the document pick up location you select below. This service is included as part of your visa fee. You will be notified by email when your passport is ready for collection."

So, the way I understand it is I will drive to Lachine location to pickup the passport and they will not mail the passport to my address? only pickup at Loomis location, right?

Just want to ensure they won't mail it to my driver license address I provided on this site.

I think that's right, but I think there's also an option to have it delivered to another address of your choosing for an extra fee. Maybe someone who knows about this can speak up? I don't recall where I saw that.

Oh, I found it on the ais.usvisa site:

Document Delivery Service to an address within Canada

An applicant may request that his or her passport be delivered to an address within Canada by following the procedure below.

Step 1: Once the waybill number appears on the Applicant Summary, the applicant has to send an e-mail to csc@loomis-express.com and provide the following information for each applicant:

  • Applicant full name (as written in the passport and visa application)
  • Waybill number
  • Daytime phone number
  • Full address in Canada (ONLY)
  • Special instructions (i.e. leave at reception, leave on 3rd floor suite 100, etc., additional contact information)

Step 2: Loomis will call applicant within 2 business days to arrange payment. The costs for each shipment will depend on whether the package needs to be shipped within the same province or it is a national shipment.

  • Same Province: $18.84 + Taxes
  • National: $20.55 + Taxes

Step 3: Once the payment transaction is complete, Loomis will send the documents to the address defined by the applicant at step 1.

NOTE: If the applicant declines charges or Loomis cannot collect the charge, the passport will be delivered to the Loomis location initially selected by the applicant at no cost.

DISCLAIMER:

  • Loomis will make two delivery attempts during regular business hours (9:00 -18:00). If the two attempts fail, Loomis will send the passport back to the branch location originally selected.
  • Loomis will leave package with anyone who answers the door at the requested address and signs for it.
  • Loomis will require the signature of the package and will not leave the document at the address if nobody is there to sign for it.
  • If Loomis is unable to deliver the passport after two attempts, but the applicant still requires the passport to be delivered at a specific address, a new service request starting with Step 1 and new transaction payment will be required.
  • Documents will be delivered within the next two (2) business days of having completed the payment.
  • Service fees are nonrefundable.
  • This service does not provide for delivery outside of Canada.
  • The following terms and conditions apply:

Just called NVC and they confirmed again that our CC was November 16th.

We are just waiting for an interview slot. I asked if December was done for Montreal and the lady said she was sure the next batch would be in January.

I will call back next week since we are hoping for a mid-January interview (would work out the best for our work schedules and budget). Thinking about rescheduling if the original date is very early January.

Has anyone heard of someone rescheduling in Montreal for a later date?? I wonder how hard it is to do without getting bumped too far down the list.

I wonder if anyone who is using the new Canada Post delivery setup can comment on whether you're able to change the delivery address once the passport is en route...depending on when they send mine (supposing I don't go into AP limbo, of course), I might want it delivered at work, or I might want it delivered at home. It was one thing I actually liked about the Loomis setup, being able to judge the best address according to when it was coming. Everything is going to be so changeable in the next while!

Bleah.

Please let us know, anyone.

:)

Medical went well, I was able to miss only half a day of work, and didn't get too stressed out driving to Surrey and back.

Good luck to upcoming interviews! @canuk2usa and @roni07! safe travels to you :)

:)

(Countdown to medical on Monday)

This might be different for Vancouver, but for Montreal, you can't change the courier details after your interview. In the confirmation page with your applicant/courier details it should say something like "You only have until 15 December, 2015, 06:00 EST to change the location where your visa documents will be delivered. After the time indicated above, the option to change the courier location will be deactivated from your account and at this point no courier changes will be allowed.", and the date they reference is my interview date.

Hope that helps!
