Hey everyone so my husband had his interview yesterday and we were denied or refused I'm not really sure what it would be. So his interview went well the asked the general questions and he answered all of them at the end the CO told him that everything was good his papers were good but there was in issue with the DS260 and that his passport number was entered incorrectly. He was informed that he needs to fix the issue and then they will send Gina letter stating he can mail in his passport and they will give him his visa. The CO proceeded to hand him a 221G form which states that he was denied and his application needs further review. Here is the issue first of all the form does not have the reason for his denial there is nothing stating this passport number mistake. Second there is nowhere that says where or how this issue can be fixed. I'm not sure what to do at this point I'm confused and a bit worried because nothing is clear to me. I did log into the ceac website and it states the case is in AP so if anyone has any info I would greatly appreciate it thanks in advance!

This is the letter he was given I just want to know what to expect is this really why we are in AP or is he denied and they didn't say that to him? If the issue was with the passport number wouldn't they put that information on the 221G?

Contact the embassy for instructions on how to fix the issue and if they don't respond then make the inquiry through a senator, they have to

respond to him/her.

Filling out a new DS260 perhaps ?

No, you are not denied, just temporarily in AP until the issue is fixed.

I just spoke to my husband to make sure he understood what they said to him and so that I can clarify what I understood from him. He said that he was called to the first window where he was asked for his original birth certificate and they also asked for a updated i864 which I had sent him he handed them over and the man at the window told him good then asked who filled out his ds260 because the passport number was entered incorrectly my husband told him that we had filled it out and the man asked if he knows how to fix it he said no then he said he will try to fix it for him and proceeded to say that he wasn't able to. Then he was called to the second window where the CO asked him questions where he answered everything the CO said she needed to write something down and then came back and gave him the 221G. At the third window the last lady told him that his case needed further review because of the passport error and that he needs to register with the post and he was already registered and she said they will send him a letter saying that everything is fixed and he will need to send in his passport ? This entire thing is making my head hurt and my heart heavy so is he really in AP because of the passport mistake or is he in AP because of something else. They said they will correct the issue and contact us so I guess we wait? I hope this doesn't take too long. ?

Definitely contact your embassy send them an email with a copy of the correct passport and ask them what your next step needs to be.

They have a copy of the passport but on the DS260 the passport number was put into the system incorrectly

Get your senator involved to see if they need you to do anything or will the embassy will correct this mistake.

Im scared now, have been in Ap over a yr now but I don't want him to get denied after that! You can denied after such a long wait too?

However, please rest assured that as soon as this processing is finished, we will contact the applicant using the contact information he/she has provided on his/her application. Thank you for your kind understanding.

If the applicant has not heard from our office after six months, please contact our office again using the web-based email form available on the website of the American Embassy.
