How long are NBI clearances good for?

I have read old posts that they are good for 6 months, some say US immigration says 1 year. My partner got his NBI in February when i was there. Our NOA1 is dated March 9 2015 and we are stuck in "black hole" of TSC.

Any definitive answers would be appreciated.

NBI is valid for one year, BUT.... USEM prefers them to be 6 months or newer for the interview.

Thanks. Our petition was submitted March 9 2015 and we have not received our NOA2 yet. So, it is expired. Is the Certificate of singleness expired too? Thank you very much. USCIS was of no help then i called earlier. i would like to call now .

NBI clearance will expire after a year. it is preferable to get a clearance once you are scheduled for an interview in the embassy, that way it is "pretty fresh". The certificate of No Marriage (singleness) I think has no expiration. I remember getting both of these documents before my interview. I may be wrong, I will try to check the certificate of No Marriage (singleness) when i get home.

I am gathering from what you say is that he did not have to get the NBI clearance as part of the petition that i filed when i returned from Cebu in March. Is that correct? Given our petition is at TSC and 7 months have gone buy, he should probably get another one, wouldn't you think?

Thanks Hank, my partner called NBI in Cebu and they did let him know it was one year. IF we ever get out of TSC and get an MNL# he will get another NBI clearance. I think he said he will get 3 just in case. We did not really talk about the CENOMAR.

Mine was both 1 year. We didnt include NBI clearance in our K1 petition. When we receive our approval that's when she started getting the NBI clearance and CENOMAR. Upon her interview, they didnt ask for it but still bring it.

NBI and CENOMAR are both listed as required documents in the embassy instructions letter. Make sure to have them.

The answer is the NBI is good for one year BUT USEM wants the NBI no older than 6 months at time of the interview. If you have an NBI that is older than 6 months then I suggest you return to the NBI and get another clearance for the interview.

Travel Abroad is the answer.

The NBI should contain all AKA's used.

NBI CLEARANCE (USEM requires Green Form). Applicants aged 16 years and older must have a valid Record Clearance (purpose: for travel abroad) from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI). Clearances should be in the applicant’s current name, birth certificate name, maiden name and any aliases or nicknames used, including different spellings you have used of those names. An official letter of explanation from the NBI is required for any notation of "No criminal record" or "No pending case". The NBI clearance is valid for one (1) year from the date it was issued but the USEM Consulate requires it to be no older than 6 months at the time of the interview. Return and get a new clearance if it is older than 6 months. The NBI website is http://www.nbi.gov.ph.
