health insurance needed?

My boyfriend is working on getting a tourist visa from India to the USA. He heard that he needs to have some type of health insurance before coming to the USA. His sister visited on a work or student visa and she was told to have insurance so she purchased it for her trip.

My question is, is it a requirement that someone have medical insurance for a tourist visa? If yes, then where can we find such insurance companies?

Any information you can provide is appreciated.

Thanks

You can purchase "trip insurance" with your plane ticket. It is not expensive and covers all kinds of issues with traveling. Or google travel insurance.....the cost of insurance is based on the price of the airline ticket

Perhaps sister could help guide, no?

By any chance, did the boyfriend's dozens of previously unpaid traffic tickets get resolved?

Knowing how things work in India, offenders tend to bribe their way out of a situation, unless a dad happens to be a politician or connected businessman.

Having things "..still out there..", something doesn't quite add up. Which may or may not matter for a b2 application.

Suggest you wait and see if he gets a visa first.

They cover both US Citizens traveling abroad as well as Non-US Citizens visiting the USA.
