Hello,

I am a beneficiary but my fiance is in Canada. We are in process of emailing that we have everything needed for the interview.

Once question on

- Police certificates from each country in which the applicant has resided for one year or longer.

If my fiance was born in India, but have been in Canada, and is a Canadian Citizen (no longer holds an Indian Passport) - does she still need a Police Certificate from India? Or is she okay with only a Canadian Police Certificate with Canadian Passport?

Thanks for all your help

Hey,

Thank you for the quick response. Actually, she moved to Canada from India in May 2007, and as she is born in Nov 1990, she would be 16 yrs 7 months. So she did not stay a full 1 year after 16.

Does this mean she might be exempt from it?

Thank you

Police clearances certificates are not mandatory anyways. However, it is a good idea to provide them to the Govt. one is migrating to.she can get it from the indian consulate in ON on the basis of her expired/surrendered indian pp or on the basis of a PIO/OCI card.

I'm not sure what the filing is, but I am the USC petitioner for my foreign husband. He has lived in three countries and getting one of the certificates was VERY difficult. I submitted the IV and AOS package without one of the certificates and got a checklist for it, so I can guarantee that for spousal visas they ARE mandatory and the criteria is that you submit police clearances for any country you've lived in for longer than a year after the age of 16. I hope this helps.
