What forms to file first after arriving in the US with K-1 VISA

I have these questions about what to file first after my fiance arrives in the United States and how the married name will affect the filings.

1. My fiance wants to work as soon as possible after arriving in the US. So we want to file for the Social Security Number and Employment Authorization Document right away. Do we file these documents together?

2. We won't be getting married until 45 days or so after his arrival in the US. So do we file for SS # and EAD with maiden name? And then change the SS# once we are married? Or should we NOT file for these documents until after we are married so we are only filing once and using the married name? Or can we file these for these documents right away using the married name even we are not legally married yet?

3. When we apply for the I-485, will it matter if the name on the application is the married name even if the SS# was under the maiden name?

I have been stressing about this so any advice is appreciated.

January 3, 2015 Met on internet chat/dating site and soon after became a couple.

April 9, 2015 First visit to Medellin.

April 14, 2015 Got engaged the day before David flew back home. Met Nelson's mother and showed her our rings. :wow:

April 17, 2015 Filed I-129F

April 22, 2015 NOA-1 date

May 23, 2015 2nd trip to Medellin - Had lunch with Nelson's family and spent more quality time together.

June 9, 2015 3rd trip to Medellin - Spent more time with Nelson's mother, met Nelson's friends and began making plans for October wedding

June 10, 2015 RFE receipt date

June 15, 2015 Hard copy of RFE received

June 16, 2015 Mailed overnight RFE reply.

June 17, 2015 RFE reply received from USCIS (notified by email).

June 22, 2015 NOA-2 date

June 29, 2015 Received NOA-2 hard copy

July 13, 2015 NVC Case Number Assigned

July 21, 2015 Case "Ready" at Bogota CEAC.

July 31, 2015 Packet 3 Received

Aug 14-21, 2015 4th and final trip to Colombia (at least for a year or so) to be there for interview !!!!

August 19, 2015 Interview, Approved conditionally

October 23, 2015 Stuck in Admin Processing

November 16, 2015 Status changed to READY

November 19, 2015 Status changed to ISSUED :dancing:

November 26, 2015 Arrival in US ........ Truly a THANKSGIVING !!

December 31, 2015 New Year's Eve Wedding (L)(L)(L)(L)

January 11, 2016 Filed AOS I-485 and EAD.

September 19, 2016 Interview for I-485 APPROVED !!!!!!!!

September 23, 2016 Received notice that GREEN CARD WAS MAILED ..... :dancing:

1. Your fiance can file for an SSN right away but, the EAD will have to be filed after you are married (it will be the AOS, EAD, AP filed altogether) .

2. Your fiance will file for the SSN with their maiden name. After getting married, you bring the SSN card and marriage certificate to the SSA office to get a new card with the married name.

3. You will use the married name for the I-485 and list any other previous names.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
