F1 to marriage

Hello!

New to this - so here is my situation. I basically want to just get some advice into whether I need a lawyer or not...

I have been in the states for three years now. I first came over on a J1 visa as an au pair, which I did for 2 years (august 2012-august 2014).

Heres the timeline of events from there:

September 2013 - Met my partner

February 2014 - Applied for student visa

September 2014 - Moved in with my partner

June 2015 - Partner proposed

June 2016 - Wedding is planned for then

Is there anything in this timeline that would seem to immigration like I was applying for a student visa just to stay with him? (that wasn't the case but I'm scared it could look that way)

If it does then what do i do? Lie? Do I need a lawyer to help me with it? I'm petrified of having Green Card denied

Did you actually get the student visa, or just apply for lone and then overstay? Are you planning any trips abroad between now and when the wedding is to be? If the answers are yes and no, you should have a very easy case, follow our Guide here; http://www.visajourney.com/content/i130guide2

Are you planning on going home to your own country and you file for K1 or are you getting married and then you leave and then file for spousal visa?

I was living with my then boyfriend on a student visa when he proposed and it has not been an issue. I went back to Sweden and we filed for K1 and now we're married and going through Adjustment of Status.

Do not LIE. Only answer what they ask for and stick to the truth. They will not be happy if you lie.

Yes I got the student visa and have been on it since then, everything is up to date and legal, I have never overstayed a visa. And no I am not planning any trips abroad. However I'm getting married in June and need to go back to England in August for my best friends wedding - will that be possible??

No I am just planning on getting married here and file for adjustment of status while I'm here. Many people I know were Au Pairs have done that and have just stayed throughout and had no problems. I'm hoping my case will be the same.
