Hey! :star:

So the 26th of August I called NVC and I received our case number. When I look it up on CEAC it says "ready".. I've come to understand that this means that soon I will receive the first package from the embassy in Sweden. Is it necessary to call the embassy or can I sit back and wait?

Also, I've read different things: is the interview date pre-set from the embassy or can I set a date? IF it's pre-set, would it be too risky to ask to change the date in case I'm unavailable (just in case)?

And as the last question: should I wait to file the DS-160 and set a medical exam appointment until I receive my package or can I go ahead and do it now? ^_^

From your Embassy website: http://sweden.usembassy.gov/consulate/iv3.html

Consular Processing

The second stage of the fiancé(e) visa process will begin when the Embassy receives the approved I-129F petition from the NVC. This could take a month after the date of approval notice.

At that time, we will contact the applicant by e-mail and provide a packet of instructions concerning the required documents. Petitioner should ensure that they are monitoring the e-mail address provided on form I-129F and make sure to forward all information to the beneficiary (applicant). At such time, the applicant can also make an appointment and pay the application fee through http://www.ustraveldocs.com/se. If the applicant attempts to schedule his/her appointment through the appointment system provider before he/she has been instructed to do so, the appointment date will be cancelled.

Interviews are scheduled Monday through Thursday at 8:30 a.m., and if the visa is approved, it will be issued within two weeks. Please note that the petitioner does no need to attend the interview. There is a $265 fee for the fiancé(e) visa itself, but there are fees charged for the mandatory medical examination and for some of the required documents.

Hi, it's a good idea to call the embassy, even though they might eventually contact you ;better safe than sorry right!?

It depends on the operating protocol of the specific embassy when it comes on to a lot of things, like pre set interview dates as you are asking about. I'm pretty sure here in Jamaica you are allowed to set your interview date yourself but it may or may not be that way in sweeden. In general I think the US embassies are fairly reasonable and understanding so rescheduling your interview date shouldn't be a very big issue. However interview dates can become difficult to get if the embassy is processing a lot so keep that in mind.

I would wait to receive the packet wah instructions from the embassy first before filling out DS-160. Just to be in line with that part of the process. As for the medical, you could go ahead and make an appointment as well as wait for the packet. Generally the medical does expire after a certain time, but I don't think you should run into that issue :)

All in all, I think a lot of your questions could be answered by calling the embassy. So, going back to your first question, you should call!

Look at my timeline. :)

Get passport style pictures taken before you do the DS-160. Cuz you need to upload a pic for the DS-160.

I made my medical appointment right when we got approved at uscis.

Call the medical center and get an appointment set. When you know what date you are going to get your medical done you can schedule an interview appointment at the embassy. That way you are sure that your papers will reach the embassy before your interview.

You could have started this process right when you got approved, even before getting the NOA2 hard copy. :) send me a private message if you want this explained in Danish :)
