K1>AOS-Still waiting for GC (with EAD combo card)-Anyone tried applying for Canadian tourist visa

Hi to All Vj-ers,

I am planning to go to Canada with my husband on December. I still don't have a scheduled interview for AOS. And there's no assurance what is the processing time either.

My question is… Has anyone experience applying for Canadian tourist visa while under AOS? If yes how long it takes?

I've been trying to search here in Visa Journey page for more information but no success. I really appreciate all inputs.

Thanks in advance!

Cheers,

Dahlia

Yes, you can travel with AP card but needs to apply for Tourist Visa. My husband drove through the Canadian boarder couple of months ago and asked about it. They said I can only go through the boarder with Greencard on hand.

Wow! Thank you for clarifying that. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of the AP card? Rhetorical question) Sorry if posted any confusing information.

AP is used to re-enter the US. If another country requires a visa for you to enter, you still need to get that visa. You cannot travel to Canada without a visa until you are permanent resident of the US and have a green card. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/visas-all.asp

As a Philippine passport holder, I also read that even Greencard doesn't guarantee that we can travel to different countries. We still need to abide to their visa requirements.

No harm done. =) I still read and educate myself about it. It is just frustrating right now that the delay to Greencard processing is terrible.

Thank you KayDeeCee! I'm not sure though if how long the visa processing. Look like it will take time too. So it will be useless if I apply for tourist visa and not get it before December =(

Ah! That makes sense now...I misinterpreted the original post and thought you were from Canada.
