Hello and thank you.

It is a known fact that schools in low socioeconomic areas do not have the same resources as schools in well off neighborhoods. While the public schools in well off neighborhoods are using macbooks in their computer labs the poor kids are rocking windows 98.

I don't doubt it. And per pupil spending doesn't get you the same resources in one area that it does in another. That would assume that there is a baseline economic equality between one city and another.

The entire rhetoric that 'they are stealing our jobs' is very much like Hitler convinced the German people that Jews were the cause of all of Germany's problems, as opposed to putting a mirror to their faces and telling them the truth.

The same is true today. Blaming 12 million people for the problems created by our own government for the last 30 years is not only disingenuous - it's downright imbecilic.

Some need to wake up and realize it will never trickle down. That's not how the capitalism works.

Totally agree. The entire debate is heavily politicised. Let's not blame State and Federal governments for presiding over a two tier society, let's blame illegal immigrants.

It's like the rich political class having a banquet and telling the people scavenging for scraps under the table that the guy going through the bins outside is responsible for their situation.

I'm curious. Why do you seem determined to deem Janelle's experience as not good enough? Or Venkman's for that matter?

No real exposure to problem resolution, Marvin.

And you know this how? Please explain

Oh, it's omission - examples of stuff you not write:

1. Back in 2010, at my local NAACP chapter meeting, we were going over the agenda for the next meeting, and an issue was raised that...

2. When I was sitting at a board meeting of my school last week, we were talking about extending campus hours for disadvantaged youth and I raised the issue of...

You never write of this, so I have to posit that you're not involved in community affairs and real-world problem resolution.

Sorry.

That's it, in 2 nutshells.

So two black people, who grew up in black families, who went to black schools, who lived in black neighborhoods, who have raised black children, aren't qualified to talk about black problems because we haven't had REAL exposure to problem resolution?

Sorry.

So, let me see if I'm following you properly. You go to the NAACP meetings, and this somehow not only negates our cumulative experience of being black, but elevates you to a status that you've deemed yourself a spokesperson for issues that plague the black community?

Hey - Real is Real. Deal with it.

Words matter, Marvin - collections of words into sentences, matter more.

as to me? If you've not done as much as I have in the past 30 years, to elevate folk out of poverty, then HEY ! To try to compare your attempted negation of self is silly and yes, specious... Who does that, really? Come On !!

Come on, it's a new semester, yer in a new place - engage LOCALLY so you can learn more about it ! Please?

I'm not so sure. There are some people that think they're attitudes are aligned with certain cultures better than a person whose was raised in that same culture. I've seen some white people who claimed they were blacker than me because they married a black woman and spoke using what they think is black vernacular.

What have you besides go to meetings?

Every time I go home, I go to the rougher parts and help do clean ups in the neighborhood. I reach out to men and women about the benefits of going to school or joining the military. My family goes EVERY Monday and feeds the homeless and poor like clockwork, even in Ferguson when all that mess was going on.

Good For You, Marvin ! God Bless You ! Hows your network of reclaimed souls, that you helped ages past, and are functional members of society this decade? They come by and visit you when you are home, thankful that God brought you into their lives, ages past? Yes? No? If No,

come on ...

Do More, locally. Yer in a new locale, it's a new semester, and you have new opportunities.

----

Whew - what have I done? Boy Scout stuff, Black Church Stuff, work projects, job-creation, weekly meetings for two years with the group of young ladies and men that i personally sponsored college scholarships for, mentoring them along the way. Black Businessmen mentoring.

Sure, I stopped all of that when my ex-wife moved into the USA, but I did do this stuff for about 30 years. 30. Does that negate your experiences as a black man in a black community ? Who cares? I asked you, apparently indirectly (prior) - what have you done to elevate a black man at the lowest rung to the next rung, and really, how's it been working out for them ?

I mentioned NAACP meetings, for Janelle, as she's never, ever mentioned that she's attended a local chapter meeting - which has me pushing to the next thing, of not getting involved with local solutions to local problems. It's ok to complain electronically but if'n one isn't actively fixing problems in the community, why bother?

And I'm not a liberal or a leftist - so there !

---

Trust me, I was more disappointed than you when I learned that Banal Barry not present a bill via Congress on his 2nd day of office, to handle the reparations of the black slaves' families. A Golden Opportunity, wasted.
