So after all of this time and preparation, my fiance received an email that he was to have his interview at the embassy in Dublin tomorrow. Unfortunately, his medical appointment is not until Wednesday. He sent an email and called the embassy but they would only let him cancel not reschedule. Has anyone experienced this? We are wondering what the next step is. Do we just have to wait for them to contact us again for an appt with the US embassy in Dublin? We are so disappointed! Thanks in advance for any info or advice!

During my interview, there were two people who couldn't come with their medical for same reason as you. They attended and their visa's were approved but the CO told them to come back to submit their results if not, their passports will not be ready for pickup.

My advice is that you do not cancel. They hopefully will give u time to make it available to them.

Hi there! My fiance and I were recently in a similar situation, but with the London embassy. His original interview date was a day he couldn't get time off from work, so he had to request a new date. Like in your case, they wouldn't immediately reschedule him, he had to just request to have the date moved and then wait for the embassy to act. I assume they did this to be fair to people who had scheduled interviews in the meantime. I was really nervous about this, but thankfully they emailed him his new interview date about a week later, and it was less than a month after than the original date. I would assume Dublin and London are fairly similar in how they operate, although I have no actual evidence for that.

Good luck!

I'm not 100% sure on this one, but judging on other embassys...

If it was me (I went through Dublin) I would go to the interview tomorrow if he has everything else and tell them that he hasn't had his medical yet.

EDIT: I just reread your post, sorry!
If he hasn't scheduled his medical yet, get him to call tomorrow and make the appointment. They only do the medicals on Wednesdays, but the wait is rarely more than one/one and a half weeks. They might even fit him in this coming Wednesday! If he has the date then he can tell them at the Embassy. I believe he'll have to go pick up his medical a week later and deliver it to the embassy then afterwards.

If he cancels and makes an another appointment he'll have to wait maybe just a couple weeks longer. Dublin are pretty speedy, especially as they already have him on file. They often call people up and tell them that they've had cancellations and that they can come in a few days earlier.

Either way, the difference in time/delay probably won't be too much, whichever order he does them in.
