Hi all!!!

Just need a bit of advise as I and my husband are in the last stage of NVC . My husband is a Medical Doctor and stays in the Eastern part of Nigeria and can't leave his job now to go to Lagos ( which is about 12 drive from where he lives) for police certificate.

We intended for him to get the police certificate when he is required to go to Lagos for the medical exam.

My question is can I still submit my IV packet without the police certificate? Rather can I have my husband write a letter stating his work circumstances and the distance along with letting NVC know we will have his police certificate with him during his interview date.

Will we get an RFE for this or is it okay? Has anyone had this same problem?

I'm almost 100% sure there is no way around this. The police cert is required in order to get a case complete. You can try calling customer service for confirmation but it is my understanding that this is required at the nvc stage and at time of interview.

No you can't get case complete at NVC without it. He doesn't have to travel to Lagos. Any police station he can request a police Report. There is a form he will fill out they will take his finger[prints and send form to main head quarters in Algabon. It will take about 2 weeks time. But no need to go to Lagos until its time for Medical and Interview.

So just hold off sending IV package until he gets the report and scan to you. He keeps the original for interview

Yes, just go to local police station. My husband did not travel to Lagos for his certificate. The local police station secured it for him and the copy was accepted by NVC with no problems.

Thanks, what do you mean by secured? Did the local station get the certificate from lagos for him? Or he used the actual certificate from the local station. I'm just asking to make sure

The local station got the certificate for him. Whether they got it from Lagos or not, I don't know, but they got it. He has the original and scanned me a copy to send to the NVC and it was accepted.
