Apparently, Hillary made a few enemies with the university hoi poli. First she says she will give them a plan to pay for college, then she turns around and charges six figures for her wonderful speeches. Apparently some students didn't think they got their money's worth. Yes, I know, the fees went to the vaunted Clinton foundation. Of course, the foundation has not revealed the salary the Clinton's get.

"The speaking fee and all other appearance costs are financed entirely through ticket sales, sponsorships and endowments established specifically to support the university's Distinguished Speakers Series," the school said in a July 2014 press release.

From your article. It's not coming from student aid. Organizations and people should be allowed to sponsor and endow what they wish at a university, no?

Absolutely, but it is HRC that is saying college is too expensive. Just another example of a liberal stating you need to do what I say, but not look at how I do it.

No, where donors decide to give their money is not really germane to the cost of a university education. Many donors will not give no strings attached donations. Do I think $275k is an obscene amount of money to be paid for a speech? Yes. Personally, I find it offensive. But that payment is not forcing up the costs of tuition. There are many complex reasons that contribute to overpriced undergraduate, graduate and professional tuition rates -- an astronomical increase in the number of students; bloat at the administrative level; creature comforts installed in the hopes of attracting prospective students; sports, to a greater or lesser degree, to name but a few amongst a sea of factors -- but paid speeches generally not.

Unless you would say to these donors no, you may not endow a speaker series, you must provide scholarships instead, there is no connection.
