Question regarding timing/necessity of medical

Hi all,

So I've successfully paid the AOS and IV bills, and we have the necessary documents all prepared, so we should be able to send the full packet out in a week or so.

Once the file is worked and approved, when does the beneficiary have to do the medical examination? Before the interivew, I'm assuming, but when exactly? And are you provided with a list of acceptable doctors?

I'm sorry that these questions have likely been asked and answered numerous times before but I didn't find a conclusive answer.

Welcome to VJ. If you fill out your timeline it will help those have more info to be able to assist you. If you check the Embassy or consulate website you can find out more info on these issues. Normally the medical is done prior to your interview. Timing is dictated by your local office. Check their website. Should not be done to long before your interview. Ours in london was done about 1 week prior to her interview.

Which country will you be interviewing in? The process depends on that, but the medical is almost always done before the interview, because you visa cannot be approved until the embassy gets the results from the medical, so you'd delay the process by doing it later. Additionally, some embassies won;t even schedule the interview until they get the results of the medical.
