Hello everyone,

For the last couple days we have been stuck on the DS 160 photo section. The photo uploaded meets the criteria but then we get stuck on the photo confirmation page. Error message reads "An error occurred while processing your photo. Please try again later" and the "next" button at the bottom is greyed out so we are stuck on this page!!!

So far we have tried on a Mac with Safari, Opera, and Firefox and on a Windows PC on IE8 and Firefox but get the same error message.

Is anyone else having this problem? Does anyone know how to get passed this??

Thanks for any reply and help!! This is so frustrating, we want to turn in Packet 3 already!

I will attempt to attach a screen shot of the error message.

Hey Van! I just recently filled out my DS-160 but didn't have any issues though! Have you tried using a different image? Maybe it's too heavy/big?

Thank you for your reply!!

Yes, we have tried different images and even tried to proceed with no image but the "next" button stays greyed out either way.... This is so strange.

Just don't put one, it's not required. Skip it and it just says to bring one with you...... It's what we did. Don't waste your time with it.

Thanks for your reply,

We've tried to proceed without a photo but the "next" icon stays greyed out so we can't proceed. We are stuck.

I just did some googling and found some people on other forums with similar issues. This is what other people said:

"You can save the online application to a file on your computer, all the way up to the part that requires uploading a photo, which is the last step. The system doesn't save your application if you're inactive for too long or exit the application without saving.

I suspect there may be some problems with the head size measurements:
From Top of hair to bottom of chin, it should be 25 to 35 mm or 50% to 69% of image height. From eye level to bottom of photo, it should be 28 to 35 mm or 56% to 69% of image height."

"Did you check all the other specifications, such as 600X600 pixels, picture in square format and in JPEG 24 bit color format, smaller than 240 kb?? Did you manually measure the photo and see if it meets the specifications I listed (Can't always trust the passport photo people)."

and then, finally,

"Success!

Thanks for all the help and advice, its much appreciated!

Think the lenght of my head was the issue lol.gif ended up taking another photo and managed to get it right.

Thanks again!"

I hope this helps.

Edit: Lol, posted too late! I'm glad you managed to fix it! :D

So after being so excited that I could move on to "review" the same thing happened. The "next" icon was greyed out and we could not get to "sign and submit".

But I figured out why. I am posting this to hopefully help someone else stuck in the form like we were :clock:

Ok, so you can't jump around completed sections in the form. When we were in the review part, we found a typo and went back to fix it and went back to review and last "next"icon was greyed out.

So this what we did and it seemed to work. We went back to the first part of the form, the "complete" section, and went through each section hitting each "next" icon, not skipping any. When we got to the one that had been greyed out, it was active!

SO don't skip around even if you had already completed a section. If you go back for some reason, hit next,,next,,next to get to where you were.. Hope this helps someone

Ah, yea that happened to me, I didn't even think that it might be your problem. I was focused on the picture issue.
