K3 or CR1 VISA

Hi All,

Hope you are doing great.

I have a couple of questions regarding getting my fiancée (Vietnamese) to the US. We plan to have our wedding in Vietnam since it will be more meaningful & enjoyable than to have it in the US.

So we are considering pursuing K-3 or CR1. I have read a post from “Captain Edwok” from K-3 VISA Sub Link here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/301-k3-general-guide-and-info/?p=2417

It states that: “This visa option [K-3] is automatically also is applying you for a IR1/CR1 visa (by filing the I-130). Historically the K-3 was used to allow the US Citizens spouse to enter the US faster than waiting for the I-130 to be approved (since that used to take a long time). Recent reductions in processing times have allowed I-130's to be approved quick enough that the IR1/CR1 visa process has been a quicker and better option for K-3 applicants. If this happens the K-3 applicant can abandon the K-3 route and persue the IR1/CR1 instead.” (post is from 2006)

1. Do you know if the above statement is still true at this point in time?

2. If you did/do apply for K-3 / CR1 Visa, please tip me some reference points so I can make my own decision.

Any thought, opinion is welcome!

Cam on/Thanks
