Can my wife file for my daughter ?

Am married to US citizen but am currently a green card holder. i want to bring my daughter to the states can my wife file for her? How?

my wife is not the biological mother

You don't need your wife to petition for your daughter because you can also petition for her.

Either of you can petition for your daughter but personally, I would rather do it myself than have my spouse do it.

Extremely bad advice.

There are no limits on visas when the USC spouse files for the stepdaughter.

If the LPR parent files for his daughter, there would be a 2 years wait for a visa.

Would you add 2 years to the wait for your child?

Is you filing yourself versus your spouse worth being separated for 2 additional years when the child is 8 years old?

have you gone through Ghana Embassy before? Would you answer for him why he is eligible to file for his daughter but his wife filed instead? Did you stop to think that since he said he is a greencard holder, he may not be aware he can file for his daughter?

So, you are okay with being separated from your 8 years old daughter for two additional years rather then having your USC spouse file?

OP asked if his wife could file. No where did he ask for other options. You assume he didn't know he could file because, wow, YOU gave him the OPTION and now he knows. You gave him the option without considering the consequences.

Why are you so scare to answer if you would add 2 years of separation from your 8 years old daughter because the LPR should file rather than the spouse?

Thanks guys, i knew about the waiting time if i file before posting it on this forum. two heads are better than one. Do i need to include family photos with the package? i need your help guys because we are doing this ourself without using lawyer.
