it took 34 years but i finally found her. and now i am nervous as hell.

me: 34. us citizen by birth. never married. no kids. ethnic korean with parents who legally entered usa in 1980.

her: 30. korean citizen by birth. never married. no kids. no family in the usa. lives with parents. works full time in korea (for now)

us: while visiting a friend in june in the usa, her friends' aunt and uncle contact my parents and set the two of us on a blind date.

we meet again the next night.

she leaves back to korea two days after we meet.

2 days later after kakaotalk messages and kakaotalk phone conversations, marriage plans are being made. how it happened. neither of us are quite sure. (pretty sure it started with her telling me "because you are a bit old...")

future plans

september: me going to korea to meet her family. my mother (maybe father) coming as well to formally meet her. official meeting of the families.

november: she will come to the usa during thanksgiving so she can informally meet my loud and too many extended family members in the usa

february: i will go back to korea to "help" (get fitted) for the ceremony in korea

april: i will go back to korea for the ceremony

may: she will come to the usa for the reception.

honeymoon: after she gets her greencard.

from my understanding, during the cr1 application process she can freely travel back and forth but to avoid any issues, she should carry proof of her intent to return to korea in a timely manner. correct?

current petition and application plans.

september: get officially married in korea

october: submit petition to apply for cr1.

what else can i provide besides the marriage certificate for "proof" of a bona fide marriage?

Yes chat logs, pictures together, passport stamps to see each other, plane tickets, and money transfer receipts are all proof

The marriage cert is proof that you're married, not proof that you're in a bona fida marriage.

For proof of bona fida marriage you can send passport stamps/boarding passes of your visits to see each other, photos of you together and with family, chat/email logs, phone records etc

To expand on mallafri76's post, the only "proof" is the marriage certificate. Everything else is "evidence," not "proof."

Your strongest evidence is anything that shows time spent together in-person.

Forgot to answer this one but yes, she can travel to see you. It's not until she submits the DS-260 (actual IV application) that CBP can even see that she's in the visa process, and even after that, she's still free to travel to see you.

I've been to see my husband three times since he filed the I-130, including once after I submitted my DS-260 and haven't had any problems. Just make sure your wife brings ties to her home country such as mortgage/rental agreement and a letter from her employer. I've never had to show it but better safe than sorry.

If they aren't married yet and she can travel to see him ( which is not easy I wish my wife could). Wouldn't they be better off on a fiancé visa? It's way faster and less proof is needed if I understand it right. I would check into that before filing of your not married yet
