Hey guys,

it's so weird. Our petition was approved on June 10.

My husband is currently deployed. He tried to call the NVC but it's hard to reach anyone due to the time difference and his work schedule...

What other options do we have? We are really getting anxious...and it's also bothering me.

I know that the I130 cases have to wait up to a year until they get their Visa but as far as I know we should at least have heard something from the NVC ?!

What can we do now?

TIA

You or your husband both can call them. If it is expensive calling US from abroad, use the free calling feature from hangout dialer app. Their number is usually busy so keep calling them until you get hold of someone.

I called them myself from hangout dialer from Pakistan and got hold of them after continuous redialing for over 20 minutes and was able to get my Case no, IIN etc.

oh and I got approved on May 21st and my fiance didn't get the letter from NVC until 2 weeks ago. However as soon as you get the status that the case has been sent to NVC, they have your case no available in 2 weeks or so even though NOA 2 states not to contact them before 30 days.

Hi there,

2 months is a bit long. It can take up to 3 or 4 weeks though.

You can email them: nvcinquiry@state.gov

Make sure you follow these instructions :

The Department of State's National Visa Center (NVC) is committed to the protection of personal information of visa applicants and their petitioners. To ensure the confidentiality of visa files and to prevent the unauthorized release of personal information, the NVC requires that the following information be provided with each inquiry:

Name of the person submitting the inquiry

NVC case number or USCIS receipt number

Petitioner's name

Principal Applicant's name and date of birth

My experience is really bad though. It can take them over 2 months to even reply....

Also, if you have Skype, you can put credits on your account. It doesn't cost much but it makes you able to call NVC yourself, against a really low rate. The reps are usually very friendly. Keep calling until you get through. With the time being six hours later in Germany it's quite convenient to call nvc, and they are reachable until midnight. So six in the morning for you!

I can imagine your hubby has other things on his mind now and you need to be his rock and be assertive.

a letter? a welcome letter?

those are generated when folk rely on postal processing.

most folk at VJ don't want postal processing, and instead,

follow the steps listed in the link below, in my signature area.

I hope yer visiting VJ from a PC, have 'view signatures' enabled, and can actually see (then click through) the link below.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

thanks guys!

I tried to call them once via skype but like you said I had to buy credits and the page didn't load.

I'll try the app hamzaisha recommended.

Makes me disappointed because everyone seems to be done with that process while we're still praying and hoping for the best....

Darnell: yea, I thought that everyone gets that letter. But I'll read that link :) thanks so much.

Oh and btw...how likely is it for me to get the Visa within 4 months?

TIA

Hi.

I agree with what others have told you, asking you to call NVC. Keep dialing until you get through. Here is my other piece of advice: When you have your case number and Invoice Identification Number, ask your husband, as soon as he gets the chance, to email NVC for expeditious processing at NVCExpedite@state.gov

He will have to put your case number in the subject line and attach a copy of his military orders that took him overseas to the email. The body of the email must include your names and dates of birth. He must also state the reason why he is requesting expeditious processing.

Good luck to you guys. Please ask if you need further help.

4 months from today? impossible.

4 months from the day that the Consular Casefile number and Invoice Identification Number is assigned? Probable, if'n you study the go-fast techniques and understand queues, time, timing and have your docs ready within the next 2 weeks.

okay, I knew it.

I mean we have most of the docs we need for the DS-260 together, only thing I need is my police certificate but I should get that within 2 weeks after requesting it.

Okay, gives me times to safe money lol

When you do submit your documents by mail to NVC (not the online forms you will do) but the criminal investigations and any others they may ask for, put the case number (CSB # NVC assigns) in the upper right hand corner of each and every page. Don't take any chances of documents getting seperated from your case. You will be in limbo. my gf had her case go to NVC before me, and forgot to do this one step, she is finally getting an interview this month after a long wait.

OP, yours won't be a CSB#, but it will still be a case number from the NVC. It will be a three letter abbreviation of the embassy you will be interviewing at, but it's the same that is referred to in this comment. For example, Adil interviewed in Casa Blanca = CSB. My fiance interviewed at Kabul = KBL.

Can he call 1-603-334-0700 from the Base? I think some bases allow calls home to the US without cost. NVC timings are 7am till 12am US Eastern time, so find a 1-hour window to spend on this.
