I sent my original birth certificate and original marriage license to the NVC.

Will I get them back?

You might be able to get them back. I always tell people get 5 or 6 ORIGINALS of every document you will need. You don't want to move to the US without an ORIGINAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE, NBI Clearances, MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE, etc... My spouse got 7 of every document in original form. Not very expensive but well worth it.

YEs you do get them back....we were worried about it as well, but right when you are approved, just ask for them and the official

will return them back.

You will get them back, as long as NVC don't loose them. That's why you should only really send copies to USCIS and NVC. The originals are brought to the interview.

David&Zola, that's a great idea. We don't use our birth certificates for anything where I come from but I understand it's quite common in the US so I will definitely do that for my move. :)
