Depends on the office- each local USCIS office does things differently, based on their internal policies, and volume

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

But I thought it was the NBC who receives the biometric data/background-check info and sends out the interview e-notifications? I didn't think the local Field Office had anything to do with this part of the process...

But the local office still needs to arrange the interview before notification can be sent.

*** Thread moved from US Citizenship main forum to the Case Progress subforum. ***

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

  • 5 weeks later...

Looking at people's timelines I notice some folks have gotten e-notifications about their interviews within 1-2 days of their biometrics, while others have waited a month or more. I wonder what might be the causes of these variations?

This is because some filed three months before their 3rd or 5th anniversary depending on what option you are filing under while some filed after their anniversaries. If you file 90 days before, you cannot be in line until 30 days before your annivesary. Those who get two days after biometrics are those who file past their anniversary or just a couple of weeks to their anniversary.

I totally agree with this - I looked statistically trough all the last threads it was the case. You won't get "inline" at least 1 month before the 3 years anniversary.

This is not the case for everyone, I have been a PR for over 5 yrs now and filed under 3 year rule, had bio in first week of May and still have had no updates, I agree with a previous poster and say it is all about luck.

I would think that is the case for 90% of the people so I doubt luck has anything to do with it. Check most of the timelines and that should be a good indicator. There are outliers of course based on issues with background checks, those with multiple A-Files and other issues.

My background check shouldn't cause any delays, I have never been in trouble with the law. As far as multiple A-files, I shouldn't have multiple files. I have looked at the timelines on VJ plenty, but I am sure there is a whole slew of applicant's that we don't get to see timelines too as they are not apart of VJ. As far as my case being stalled, yep, I am basing it solely on crappy luck.

Have you tried calling them and speaking to a tier 2 IO. They may be able to give you more information.

I have and I am not sure what to say to get them to transfer me to a tier 2 because just flat out asking is not doing the trick for me :( I want to make an infopass appointment when I go over 5 months waiting, but it is over 2 hrs away so I'm waiting when that 5 month timeframe hits. I actually contacted my US Senator today and waiting to hear back from his office, I have read on VJ that it has been something that has worked for others, so right now I am willing to try anything that will help move this along.

Sorry to hear that. I noticed a lady who has been waiting for quite a while and was almost giving up get her interview scheduled today after almost 5 months. Hope you do not have to wait for too long. It is a sucky feeling same as I had during the ROC process.

Thank you, I am hoping I don't have much longer to wait as well. I am just anxious to be done with USCIS and be done filing paper work with them.
