Travel in USA while I-130 pending

Hi everyone, here it is the question.

I am an italian citizen and i am married with a US citizen and we are leaving in Italy. We have a 1 year son and he has already the US passport.

My wife has just filed the I-130 at the US embassy in Rome and they have received it.

In september i ll have to travel to US for a 5 days vacation without my wife and my son.

Will i be ok with the ESTA application that i already have or i must file for a B1/B2 visa??

I was reading that it is sufficient that i show my intent to come back after the vacation and i think the fact that my wife and son stay at home should be enough.

Can i kindly ask for any suggestion??

It's no problem at all. I've been flying over three times since we filed our I-130, which included once after I had submitted my actual IV application with my passport number. That was also the first time the CBP officer could see that I'm in the visa process.

There's a whole thread about this question in the CR/IR-1 forum. It's a sticky on top in that forum, go have a read through. Loads of people travel to visit under the VWP during the visa process and share their experience in that thread.

I did it too while my process pending they may ask your purpose or for how long but apperemtly is not a problem at all. Good trip!
