The NVC takes 35 days to recieve K1 case??

Hey all,

We got our NOA2 2 weeks ago. I called the NVC today to find out whether they had received our case. They haven't. I spoke to a lady who said it would take 35 days to receive our case, and an additional 2-3 weeks to process it. Is this true? From what we have read this sounds strange. Why would it take 35 days to receive the case? This doesn't make sense to me. I'm thinking she might be wrong. Thoughts? Thanks.

I believe this is the same spiel as with the USCIS: basically they give themselves a wide margin of time so that they won't have to be bothered if it falls outside that timeframe. Unlike the USCIS the timeframes are actually fairly sane.

Look at other members' timelines - from the CSC it seems to take 3-4 weeks, and from TSC 2-3 weeks.

From the NVC to the embassy, currently it seems to average about a week.

Continue calling them, and don't get discouraged. We called about 4 times (because we were anxious)

Hello,

Doesn't sound strange. It took 3 weeks for my case to get from CSC to NVC and it took NVC 17 days to send it to the consulate. It is better to expect high range of the estimates and be happy if it is quicker for you. :)

Good luck!!

Your timeline makes me want to kick a pink flamingo. A real one! Haha How fortunate that Texans aren't stuck with using the Texas service center. I smell conspiracy! :-) I've seen alot of recent cases getting through nvc in under 10 days in the past month, but they appear to have slowed down again. We'll just have to wait it out I suppose. :-/

lol,, oh no! Leave the flamingos out of this.

My fiancee and I wanted to file for the K1 back in Oct 2014 but circumstances out of our control prevented us from doing it until May 2015! I was totally preparing for a 6-9 month wait at TSC. We got really lucky getting routed to CSC.

Hope everything goes quickly for you!

My NOA2 was June 29th from CSC, and we still don't have an NVC case number. It's been 32 days as of today. I've called many times these past couple of weeks, and it's always a similar response - "it usually takes at least 35 days for cases to show up in our system..." Yesterday I called again and pressed for a little more information. I told them I know of other people who have received their case numbers in under two weeks, so why was mine taking so long? I asked if there was any logic to the order they come from the service centers, and the operator said "I'm not privy to that information." Then I asked if there was anything else I could do at this point, and he basically said no. He said they don't start taking additional steps to find an approved case until it's closer to 2 months past the NOA2 notice date. So annoying and frustrating!

Hey jamesT , I'm sorry to hear that the NVC is being such a pain for you. It will get there. The first person I spoke to was a bit rude. Hopefully you will hear a good answer next time you sit through the annoying calling process. We pray you hear good news soon.
