Self harm and medical

Hi

My daughter and I have our medicals next week. Summer 2013 my then 14 year old daughter became depressed after several traumatic life events and began to self harm (cutting) a lot. She was admitted to the priory September to December 2013. She went back to school September 2014, caught up on all her missed schoolwork, and sat 11 GCSEs. She hasn't self harmed since October, has been off medication since November and discharged from cahms since January this year. I have letter stating the above for the to stating relapse is I likely, and a letter from school stating her preovress, improved mental health and their belief she is no longer risk to self or others.

I've been quoted £450 for private psychiatric evaluation - should I pay this and have it done before the medical or wait to see what they say. She has a lot of scars on arms, stomach and legs.

Any advice is appreciated

Save your money and wait for the medical. IF they feel she needs a formal evaluation, it wwill have to be done by someone in their office or to whom they refer her. You have documentation about her treatment and recovery (and, thank goodness she is better, right?); an additional private evaluation done by you ahead of time will not make a difference.
