sending balikbayan box

4 posts in this topic

it would be my first time sending balikbayan box to the philippines since i heard / read a lot of horror stories how they will open and steal the contents of the boxes. i decided to send one since my cousin will have vacation in the Philippines and the whole family will send gifts to our relatives and airline charges if you exceed more than 2 checking bags / boxes.. my question is i was given a paper by the lady in LBC to declare the amount and quantity of the items I'm sending, I'm only sending used clothes and used shoes, that's it, no electronics, spam, soap, lotion, etc. so i assume those dont have values?

thanks

It must be LBC policy. We don't have a LBC here. I have sent a dozen or so boxes, never had anything taken. I have sent new computers, lots of tools.

Never had to declare value.

I would just put $5 for value, you know since LBC is a Philippines company it just another BS rule they have made up.

All the carriers require you to fill out the form stating what is in the box, you can write what you choose on the form. ;)

I have shipped full size desktop PCs with monitors, tools of all kinds, etc. never had issues but I do read stories of boxes being opened and stuff stolen. Never happened to me.

Heck I brought 7 tablets and two laptops in my luggage this last trip, forgot to have the form ready for the customs agent at NAIA, he just said - no form huh? Guess you have nothing to declare.. enjoy your stay.
