Checklist for the interview. Need some help, please!

Hi, VJ members! We will finally have our interview on this upcoming Monday, July 27th. So I just wanted to make sure that I'm getting all the documents together. Please, review my list, and let me know, if I'm missing something.

So this is what we are going to take with us (my hubby is US citizen, we are both 24 years old and have been together for a year and 3 months):

1) Husband's original birth certificate, my original BC + translation, my passport, our SSN cards, my EAD, our driver's licenses + copy of all this documents just in case.

2) All the NOA and letters that we've got from USCIS.

3) I-864 + IRS transcript for 2014. My hubby changed his job, so he should get a letter from his new employer on Sunday and I'm gonna bring a letter from my work and my last 2 paychecks, again just in case.

4) My I-94 and DS-2019 (I'm adjusting from J1 visa)

5) Certified copy of our marriage certificate.

6) Joint tax return for 2014, rent agreement with both our names on it (already submitted, but I made another copy), bank statement from our joint account, electricity bill with his name on it and wifi bill with my name with the same address on both of them. Also I made a small photo album with our pictures and put some movie tickets and cards from our mini golf games in it. I'm gonna take some greeting cards from my family and his aunt as well.

We have already submitted my medical examination, so I believe we don't need it with us, since we didn't get any RFE for it and it was taken here with a doctor from USCIS list. Anyway it seems like I can't find my copy of it unfortunately

So if you notice that I've missed anything, I'd be happy to know about it and any advices regarding the interview would be highly appreciated.

Bring photos of the wedding, and any photos showing you and your hubby together with family and friends. I would also bring any insurance (auto, home, medical, life) documentation you have showing both of your names, and any joint bank account information. I know our interviewing officer was quite interested in seeing our wedding photos.

Also consider things like proof that you're each other's beneficiary for 401K plans, large purchases e.g. car where you both have your names on the title. Make copies of all the original documents, we had to hand in documents that the interviewer requested on the spot.

Well we didn't really have a wedding ceremony or reception, so we don't have any pictures. We are planing to have a ceremony back at Russia with all my family. We also don't have any insurance unfortunately. My hubby has a health one, but he can't add me to it. Do you what I listed at my first post wouldn't be enough?

If you don't mind me asking,what documents did they request from you during the interview? We don't have any big purchases either, I'm waiting for the title for my new car, but it will be only under my name anyway, because I was just transfering plates from my old car. I'm worried that we don't really have a lot evidence, but our marriage is real and I hope the IO will see that.

We were asked if we had other documents that supported our application, he wanted to see more financial documents, so I handed in more banking, mortgage and insurance copies (these were collected between when we filed the application and the interview date).

Try not to be nervous, not everyone is in the same situation, so you may not have a lot of paperwork. Just make sure you come across as confident, organized and truthful when answering questions about what you do have.

jjbandero, thanks for your help! We had our interview today and was approved on the spot. However, I haven't get any emails or texts about any changes regarding to my case, should I be worried?

That's great, congratulations! I wouldn't worry about the online updates, we never really got proper updates throughout the process, it was always delayed. If you don't get your card within the expected time, then call for information, otherwise just relax and wait.

Thank you!! Actually I got the texts and emails today that I-130 is approved and my GC has been ordered. Thank you again for all your help and answers!
