I received an IMBRA RFE because I met my fiancé through Cherry Blossoms. Has anyone successfully responded to this? Does anyone have any references. Please respond if you have had experience with this or know someone who has. Thank you.

Read all the other recent threads in this IMBRA subforum.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I met my gal in the website now called "Filipina Cupid." There seems to be alot of interest by the USCIS regarding people who meet at websites such as this, "Cherry Blossoms" and others. I would suggest contacting Cherry Blossoms and indicate that you have received the RFE and what it contains. I did this for my gal - sent an email to the website and asked if the website was IMBRA compliant and copied the emails (mine and their response) to my petition and it was not an issue.

I have received an email from "Cherry Blossoms" explaining why they are not a marriage broker. Just to make sure that I understand your experience - you sent a copy of the response from Filipina Cupid in and they then approved your petition?

We are so anxious about this. We have been in a relationship for over 4 years.

My K-1 petition was several years ago.. I tried to proactive and did the research and legwork before hand. I sent a copy of my email to Filipina Cupid asking about being IMBRA compliant and a copy of their reply to my email, basically saying the same as yours from Cherry Blossoms, with my I-129F petition and it was never an issue. I have seen at least 2 members here at VJ recently that, for the most part, did the same as I originally did after they got a similar RFE as you. Just my opinion, but this is the best you can do. Copying and sending Cherry Blossoms "Terms of Service" doesn't really answer the USCIS question. A personal reply from Cherry Blossoms, like you say you have, does.

If it doesn't state in the terms of service that they are not, than email them and print that the replies and send it in, that has been enough to satisfy the RFE. If it is in their terms of service, just print that off (highlight the applicable sentence or paragraph) and send it. Include a small note stating the web address where the T.O.S. can be accessed.

We also met on Filippino Cupid dating website and I found this tread after I filed the petition last month and had been worried about getting a RFE since. I researched the issue and saved useful links in my browser including a sample letter. Those actions calmed me down and at the end I did not have to use it. The petition was approved few day ago without RFE. So do not be stressed out by the possible RFE and gather information or materials just in case you receive one. Good luck!

Well I returned my RFE. First of all I had to correctly complete and sign the G325a. I didn't see the mistakes at first, but then when I went blank by blank I found several mistakes and redid and signed the form. It helped using the example form on this site. I also addressed the IMBRA issue. I wrote a cover letter. My fiancé and I wrote a letter describing the story of our relationship and how the role Cherry Blossoms played did not fit the criteria of an international marriage broker. I enclosed a letter from Cherry Blossoms that describes point by point why they are not an international marriage broker. I also included a few pictures to help the person looking at our petition realize what a good looking couple we are. :)

I was anxious putting it in the mail. There are so many details and it is so easy to make a mistake. And the process seems somewhat subjective. From the feedback I have received most people who have done what I have done have received their NOA2. Good luck to us all!
