Postponing Interview

Hi all,

I am in desperate need of some good advice. My fiancé was finally called for the interview at the embassy after 15 months of processing and was told that she has an appointment on August 9th. However, unfortunately in the time that we have waited her mother has become ill and relies heavily on her at the moment so she would be unable to go to the interview or come at this time if she got the visa. I am terrified if we ask to postpone the interview they will cancel the process but it seems that is the only option. Does anyone have any experience with this? Is it possible and if so who would I contact, the embassy? Any advice would be much appreciated!

I was under the impression that it was only valid for 3 months but after talking with her, she says that she prefers to postpone it because she does not know how long she will have to stay there. I've tried to change her mind but that is what she is comfortable with so I respect that. But I just need to know if it is possible and how to do it.

~At this stage of the process instructions/requirements are often embassy/consulate-specific~

If I'm not mistaken, the visa expires 6 months after your medical exam- that will be the expiration date on the visa... not always 6 months after the visa issuance.

So say you got your medical done on August 1st and your visa was issued October 1st, your visa would expire February 1st (6 months after the medical exam).
